Re: import guys are so clueless

you gotta watch for them hondas tho. Theres some fast ones my bro had 2 one was a 89 crx si, stock single cam non vtec with a 60 trim turbo stock motor but a standalone ecu thing ran 10s constent haveing i think a 10.5 best on slicks. Also he had a 94 eg coupe with a single cam vtec with a lil turbo that ran 12s. The crx the night he got it out ran a 06 gto 6spd by like 5 lengths spinning 3rd an 4th with drag radials i think that was froma roll acttully 100% sure, that thing was fast almost made me **** my pants. That coupe at 1/2 throttle took my old 91 z by 2 lengths to hahaha pathetic i know.

Re: import guys are so clueless

Most just like to dress up there car to look fast. Gives them a false sense of pride? Or maybe they think looks DOES make their cars fast? My camaro looks like some junker multicolored car, it might be a V6, but I'm sure it can beat some of those imports with giant wings and wide body kits, lots of those here, all show and no go.

The wings and everything help on downforce, but for a 100-150 hp car? Just doesn't work. But without ricers, what would we have to laugh about? Crazy soccer moms?

Re: import guys are so clueless

It's blasphemy when soccer moms drive terribly in muscle cars. Like this new Challenger, fully loaded (SRT8?). Cuts me off on the freeway (60 mph limit) doing 35 and then cuts off a semi (huge fine if you do that here). So I pull up next to her, shake my head in shame, and then drive off.

Re: import guys are so clueless

Yeah, it was just enforced I believe last year. Oh, not to mention it's illegal to operate a cell phone while driving now. My brother got a $135 ticket for checking who was calling.

Oh, I had this 96 Civic Vtec pass me on a 25 mph road, and I was doing 30 (cops don't mind 5 over), almost hits me and then slams on their breaks before a stop sign...they go straight, and I turn right to go into town, couple minutes later, we end up at the same spot, them at a espresso stand and me at the post office next door, turned out they work there, and after all her reckless driving, she got there the same time I did, haha!

Actually the cheap fiberglass or tin metal bolt-on pieces of crap most of these guys have on their cars will do nothing for downforce. At the speeds where downforce would come into play, these junk parts will be ripped off their cars. I've seen it happen more than once, always funny to watch a tin wing forced off of its mounts, and sometimes it takes the deck lid with it.

Yeah, I've seen some cavalier with a huge tin wing, was bending the trunk lid on the freeway.

Not to mention one well placed piece of debris picked up buy another vehicle hitting the engine and possibly breaking something. Or going into a store or restaurant and coming back out to find a rain storm or freak snow storm has just hit.

Re: import guys are so clueless

you wanna hear funny i was driving my uncles 87 firebird 630 hp 383 and we had just completed the buil so of course we had to test drive it.. well my friend zac has an eagle talon.. he by the grace of god pulls up next to me on this two lane street next to my house well he rolls down the window just to find out the exhaust is so loud that he cant even speak over it.. well then he sent a text talking about how he just built this other firebird and that my uncles was all bark no bite... well i told him i would race so he named this new bridge that might as well have built to be a drag strip because its exactly 1/4th of a mile from start to finish.. but back on subject he said go the bridge that was a while away from my house and with how much stuff was illegal about this car i told him no... well then he started in with trash talking and being stubborn and a dumb teenager gave in.. we met up and we started off i just completely left him i was at 100 in no time the car was amazing.. and he calls me later and says i got lucky.. i was goin to slap the kid but i dont blame him he is ignorant when it comes to vehicles..

I cant quite figure it out myself....ive owned a slew of f bodys over the last 15 yrs and use them as daily transportation so i get this crap alot from todays Fast@Furious crowd in Delaware. When asked why i like driving these " corny *** old cars" I just tell them " I dont know...guess its a guy thing, you just wouldnt get it". Most just buzz away giving me a very well manicured flip of the bird...off to buy the newest Kanye West cd or have his butthole bleached...i dont know. Other's blab tech..but they dont have or know jack. I get lost laughing at there cute little pizza cutter no hub cap wheels, crappy painted interior trim in the most off color and those wings MMMM ! Then to see that little import bounce away is eye watering funny. The whole scene is as gay as a box of bicycle shorts. I hope its a dying fad...hell even that retard Vin Diesel looks to be driving a G/N in the new F@F. Maybe that will help some of those import tuner kids distended ********* to drop... seeing a real man's car grace the silver screen.

ROFLMAO! God that's funny. Truthfully, that GNX (actually a painted regal from what I've heard) is the only reason I want to see that movie. I fear though that it will only show in the one scene shown in the preview. At least there seems to be a good amount of muscle in this flick, too many clapped out econo-boxes in this series for my taste though. I'll stick to the classics: Two Lane Blacktop, Vanishing Point (the original), White Line Fever, and the like...

Re: import guys are so clueless

So this morning, 3:45 am, I'm driving my fiance to work, she's fast asleep, and this new RSX pulls up next to me, revving his engine waiting for the red light to turn green. He's about half a car length behind me and starts to roll, light turns green, (for ***** 'n giggles I was going to stop at the speed limit) I drop the clutch, a little spin because of the wet road, I jump ahead a little then he passes me driving normal speed, why would he do that? So I downshift to catch up and look at the kid. Nothing, won't even look at me *sniff* So I figured he's not knowledgable and thinks every Camaro/Firebird has a modded V8, or he knows I only have a 2.8 and I'm not worth his time. But why rev your engine and make the car jump a little before the light turns green like he wants to race me?

He must of just liked your car... I've had a few people do that to me. As for jumping the light, he probably was just one of those people... who jump green lights. I've done it a couple times when I was bored, trying to predict the green.

The girls here that drive imports here have more ***** than the guys. Had two trying to race me in a Suzuki SX4. That thing sounds like an electric weed wacker.

you know not all tunner guys are bad. to be honest my daily driver is a 98 zx2 set up specifically for imca racing, or legal street X racing. along with the large list of illegal things my car has no governer. the omaha scene has few cars that are much more than stock and most get goverened at 105-120 or so im guessing. i can hit around 100 in 4th gear around 4.5k and hit 120(where my speedo stops) in 5th about 3k deep. i have taken it all the way up to 6k and the car pulls in 5th. im sure i can dig up a parts list but most of the work was done before i got it, and i have just added a few minor things to make it that much better. but to be fair i bought it because it got alot better gas mileage than my 79 ta so it wasnt bought for racing just kinda happened to by a race car

also i thought i might point out i used to have a huge "My other ride is a 84 TA" sticker in the back so when i pulled up to muscle, i usually rolled down my window and asked them what they had under the hood, most guys usually are like go f yourself, but i think its their stock v6 not wanting to play with others. not to be hating on v6 guys too much.

also im not trying to pick a fight, and my zx2 has no body kit, wing, clear lights, super fancy rims, it looks like **** persay but can and has killed many a stang in the area. i just wont race f body guys as i would rather talk to them at the lights not race them

I'm not ashamed of my V6, I won't back down from a challenge, even if I know I'll lose, it's all fun to me (when conditions are safe, that is, no recklessness for me)

The only part i have a problem with is the fact you call the ZX2 a race car, its not anywhere near one stock lol Gotta put some money in that thing to get speed. At least you have an 84 TA though!

oh it definently isnt one off the bat, previous owner dropped around 3k in the motor and tranny, its got noticeably shorter gears now, but accelerates like a mother through all. i only call it a race car as its surpisingly fast, and is small and light. i dont do the revv ups at anyone because i would hate to be thought of as a *****. and if someone revvs at me, i give it my all but i of course dont always win

and to d00012 im in no way picking a fight with v6 guys, the local guys who have v6's kinda feel like they have something to proove. i have seen many awesome v6 cars do some serious damage, but i seem to get alot more v8 guys like why you interested and i let them know i have a 84 ta, and had a 79 ta, then they usually are like oh nice, why you driving that

however i must admit i had to take my sticker off my window, as a police officer said it obstructed my vision. some of these guys are just morons, it was made of the "see through" sticker material and was on the top portion of the window, and was not overly huge. but if i didnt take it off i was going to get a ticket next time... probably was a stang guy

I agree that most V6 guys must have something to prove, EVERY third gen, fourth gen and every stang in the junkyard is a V6.... too many ppl thinking they are everything. lol And most of them are wrecked.....

Haha, and all of them are stripped clean! I can never find parts for mine at the local pull a part. I know my V6 is only around 140 hp at the crank, and just race people for fun, losing just gives me a goal to achieve.

Re: import guys are so clueless

I've got a story like this. My friend has a 87 iroc with a carbed 305. He did some mods to the car(headers, exhaust, intake manifold). So he starts talking about how fast the car is. So I tell him I'll race him in my truck(02 GMC 1500 with a 5.3 100% stock). He takes it as a joke thinking there's no way my trucks going to beat his camaro. So we race and I end up winning by like 1 car. So its not just the import guys that are clueless.

Yeah they do...like me! Haha! But seriously, I know perfectly well when I'm outmatched, and I'm pretty much outmatched by EVERYTHING. Haha! But my 3.42 gears sure do make up for it, would be even better if I had 3.73s and a better tune. It's amazing how people think their car is fast just because they drive it fast, well, what they think is fast.

Every once and a while me and my buddies cruise out towards Orlando, and let me tell you, some of those imports from CFT and those supras are insane. I wouldnt mess with them. I believe i saw an impreza from CFT recently racing one of their little honda, insane little machines those guys make. Its completly different from the imports in Tampa, here they couldnt tell the difference between a dipstick and a pushrod but once you go oh 40 miles west your in a whole different world. If its done right and with care i respect it, as in CFT's cars.

And the problem with the Supras seems quite common. My uncle has a friend who has a supra pushing some high HP and cant seem to get the 1/4 times he wants, those things just dont hook up at all. Still very nice cars though, and thanks to the fast and the furious the average ***** cant afford them, so most are pretty decent and know their stuff.

a lot of people think they have the best car ever. i know a kid that wants to put an electric supercharger on a 3.8L buick le sabre and he expects another 50 hp! should go well with his straight pipe and "cold" air intake. he said he'll race me once he gets it on, so with that "supercharger" choking him back I should probably win. lol.

Re: import guys are so clueless

Reminds me of this kid I was coming up next to at a stop light, I'm about 75 feet away when the light turns green, it's a two lane and merges into one, there's an 90-94 Saturn 4 door next to the kid (90 something accord w/ fart can), the saturn gets a huge jump on him and is gone, i start to come up to the light, i'm doing 25 mph by the time I'm at the light and have another 150 feet until the two lane merges to one. I catch him and pass him, then he rides my rear bumper for 3 miles until we're on the freeway. At one point he almost rear ends me and revs his engine to get me to move, but I couldn't because i had to yield to an on-coming truck. So I go, hear his car rev high, he tries to pass, I drive up next to another vehicle preventing him from passing. He didn't deserve to get to where he needs to go early for almost rear ending me and hurting my fiance.

He seriously thought he could beat that Saturn! And then gets passed by me doing the speed limit at 55.

Just the other day this happened. Went over to where my buddy works at a local parts store and he was telling me of some import guy who came in earlier that day. Import guy said he's got a car that'll beat my buddy's El Camino (runs 11.20's on the motor) Another friend of ours happened to be in there and calls the import guy on it and says there's no way he'd beat the El Camino, even put money down on it. Import guy starts to back pedal and by the time he leaves, he says he still needs to build the car

Ah... It made me so sad today. I was driving the highway on my way to work, I was in my Bronco. I'm going along and I pass by this Big spoilered-Honda crusing at around 60. I look inside and it's this little asian and his girlfriend. I was just thinking at the time how I wish I was in my Camaro, so I could show them a real car. Not to race, but just to catch their eyes and shake my head at em. The funny part was when I passed him, looked back in my sideview, and saw this little tiny head BARELY reaching above the steering wheel

I was on the way home this afternoon from the lake with my girlfriend, my brother and his girl friend. I had a kid in an Eclipse decide he wanted to try to blaze past me on an on-ramp as I was merging onto the highway. The on-ramp goes about 1/8 mile, then promptly the highway starts to go up a steep hill. He romped it hard about the same time I noticed and romped my big 350 Vortec. When I finally let off at 70 mph, I was about 5-6 bus lengths in front of him. The saddest part is that I was in my STOCK 6,000 lbs Chevy Express Conversion Van pulling a Ski Boat! Never underestimate these big Vans, Trucks, SUV's. With nothing more than a PCM tune it will run 0-60 in 8 seconds on level road.

Slightly uphill run to an elevated highway. 0-60 in 9 and 0-80 in 16 seconds. Takeoff was roughly 1/2 throttle and still spinning tires.

I am curious what kind of Electric S/C he would be referring to.. Couldn't be too much as he would only have 12v feeding it. Unless he uses 1000 ft of extension cord.. LOL

Electric supercharger?????? Is this his ignorance, or am I that far behind in times? Screw it, I'll just keep to big blocks with 8-71's and dual quads, 4 gallons per mile baby!

Last time I was at the junkyard with my brother there was some moron there bragging that he put over $60k in his Eclipse and is putting out 600HP. My brother, who builds turbo Eclipses on the side for extra cash and actually has built 600HP+(his current project is aiming for around 800HP with water injection) just shakes his head and laughs at him. When this guy starts insisting my brother doesn't know anything, he starts asking this guy what all he's done and throwing part numbers and names and all kinds of technical terms at him(and some BS stuff too just for fun) that he should know if he had really done it. This guy's eyes just kinda glaze over, and suddenly its his "buddy" who built the engine for him. He just fronted the cash. To which my brother laughs again and tells him he got ripped off big time, and walks away shaking his head. My brother may prefer eclipses and talons to camaros and firebirds, but he hates ricers as much as anyone on this board. He loves to rub it in someones face when they are talking out their *** too and its hilarious to watch.

That reminds me of something this guy I knew in high school did. He had an old Nissan 4x4 that was gutless as hell. He went and found himself a ac/dc power inverter and a shop vac. He put the vacuum hose on the exhaust port, and with some duct-tape and ******* engineering, he managed to plumb the hose into his intake. I never got to ride with him, but he claimed it worked "slicker than snot". However just a few days after his "installation" he was suddenly driving his sister's old car. We later found out that something went horribly wrong and he blew his motor up, and nearly burned his truck to the ground. I'm laughing even now, almost 12 years later. His sister works in the same place I do, I'm gonna have to ask her what ever happened there.

BTW this guy was nowhere near a r***r, just a simple r**n**k who thought he found a way to get his truck up the hills a little better. Man that guy could fish like no one's business.

That's funny...same thing happened here....A bunch of us went out jetskiing during the day (nice day), but when the evening approached it started getting really cloudy and we all headed back down the mountain....long story short, by the time we got down the hill it was dark and the 'cruisers' were out.....but it was raining slightly....we a few of us stopped downtown to BS a bit, and sure enough...a whole bunch of import guys (and a couple v6 stangs) were racing from the stoplight we were by. Everytime that light would turn green, at least a couple people would race (three lane one way road)....they thought they were just the coolest because they were really spinning (or at least trying) those tires (on the watery road of course). I noticed no powerful rear drive cars were out trying to do that....lol.

Re: import guys are so clueless

I was in the parking lot at school today and saw the funniest thing ever. This retarded kid in his crown victoria ex-cop car tried a burnout in a puddle. He's blasting his radio listening to some crap rap, and then he hooks, and shoots forward and tries to turn. at this point I'm in the crosswalk and his "Cool entrance" has to take a delay as i stand there laughing.

Saddest burnout ever. It rains. Idiots try to burnout, I try to not spinout/hydroplane XD
