'86 IROC vs 02 Monte Carlo SS

Hey
My cousin has a 02 monte carlo ss with the 3.8 L v6. if i remember right it's factory super charged. i have my 86 IROC with a 305 and 4L60 tranni i haven't Dyno'd it yet but i'm guessing high 100-low 200 hp with intake and exhaust mods or it feels like it anyway. So my cousin and i were BSin' at lunch and we're trying to figure out who's faster. i just got busted for speeding and i'm slowin way down.(got a warning) so a race is out of the question. thanks for your help.

Monte SSs were only supercharged in 04-05. It's an N/A 3.8.

I'd say if he runs a 16 give or take a tenth or two they're about on par with each other. Probably be a close race pending condition of both cars. Butt dynos don't count.

ya found out he didnt have a s/c after i looked @ it after school he didn't know what he was talkin about. Ya i know my Iroc is pretty pathetic for a v8. But around here anything half fast that can lay rubber with the REAR tires is "cool". The Iroc was TPI but the moron who had it before me hacked everything to H*&L.(ie. "lets put water in the radiator in december." its cold were i live). i really want to womp him so ill just keep savin my pennies for that 355 vortec i've had my eye on

Smoked my buddies 01 Monte ss In my RS when all i had was an ignition and underdrive pulleys on it. In fact both of his Monte ss's ran near identical times at the track 87 ss and 01 ss I smoked both but were def different his 87 got the jjump on me by a half car( they came with 3.73 posi's from the factory)then I pulled right on by by about a car. the 01 I jumps by a car and opened up to about 2 cars.

My buddy stayed up fender to fender with monte ss in his 4.3 jimmy. I was in the car, and both of us were very surprised.

*sigh* from a reardrive v8 to a front drive v6, what was GM thinking? Thank the automotive gods they didn't do that to the F-Bodies...

I would have to agree with edlisaj, my dad has a 99 Grand Prix GT, and with some simple performance mods, it's faster than the stock GTP. But if the monte carlo is all stock, it will be a little sluggish.

You dont know how close that nightmare was. The 3rd gen was originally supposed to be released in 1980 with front wheel drive but luckily they went back to the drawing board, made some changes and by 1982 had rear wheel drive back in the car.

Re: '86 IROC vs 02 Monte Carlo SS

something to keep in mind is that every factory car, built side to side is different....

btw, if you only got a shift kit and a slap stick you would have a world of advantage.... super super cheap mods.
