Camaro vs Cavalier

Today, I was going home on a 4 lane highway. Speed limit is 55mph. I was just cruising around 60mph starting to get out into the country side of my city. And on the left I saw this 2000ish red Chevy Cavalier with a flat black body kit. But it was what ever to me. I just keep cruising. Around 2 mins later I look into the rear view mirror and I see that Cavalier cutting in and out of cars coming fast on me. So I put the camaro into 3rd gear and get ready. I waited till his front bumper got to my rear bumper then I lay it to the floor. I gain probably 4 lenghts on him and then we came to a red light. Im in the left lane he is in the right lane. I knock my B&M shifter into 1st gear. Light turn green I roll alittle and floor it trying not to spin. I notice he didn't want to race from dig or maybe at all. So I whin the engine up through 1st and 2nd. and I put it in overdrive and was crusing again around 60mph. I left him pretty far behind. Maybe 10 lenghts. Then I look in the rear view and here he comes and fast. I knock it into 3rd and floor it. He gets to my bumper and then I start to pull from him. I let off to let him caught up. And here he comes again. This time I fender him in till his front bumper is with my pass window. And I lay into it again. I actually look at my Speedo this time Im going 110mph. I was like Holy crap but I was like too late now. So I get a few lenghts on him and let off and get back to 60 mph and I guess he realize to it was over cuz he just slowly creeps pass me and turn at the road.

This is the first time I have street race. I have a few passes on a 1/8 miles.
One part of me says it was a uneven race just cuz I never let him get besided me and leave equally but ever time he rolled up on me he was moving coming quick. All I thought of was a ric*r fly-by. Now I did give a chance at the red light. But he probably heard the car caming and figured from a dig would be suicide. IDK but either way he was at the disadvantage (being his car was probably mostly stock). But I was glad I could stop his insane driving in and out of cars.

Re: Camaro vs Cavalier

What kind of times has your car ran in the 1/8th mile? Was the Cavy a 5 Spd or Auto?

I can tell you if the guy knew how to drive, it was a stick, and it was more fair it woulda been a closer race than you would think if your car isnt too much faster than stock. Also, Cavaliers shut off at 105 so thats why you had him at those speeds.

I have a friend that has a 2000 5 Speed Black Cavy w/ a Cold Air Intake and some mild Head work. Its his DD that he beats the living hell out of. Ill tell you that car is decent pulling through gears. The top end sucks, and it would help if the car had a higher rev. He has kept with a friends 02 Acura RSX Type S for the first few gears so I cant bag on Cavy's.

cavys have a lot of potential. but you don't have to rice them out to get power like that guy. i'm glad you played with him. if he wants to beat you he'll need more than a body kit, lol.

Cavys are sweet, I'd take one over a civic any day..for DD and for some tuner-ish fun.

Id rock out a Cavy for a DD if I could pick one up cheap, have to be a 5 speed tho. Decent handling/acceleration, easy 35 MPG, and its a Domestic.

A Cobalt is an updated version of the Cavalier. Like the next generation Cavalier, but they just renamed it thats all.

But I agree being FWD is FTL lol..

and a foxbody mustang was the next generation of mustang after the mustang 2 but beat the living crap out of it performance wise as does a cobalt vs the cavy...

I would expect it too? Just like 3rd & 4th Gen F-Body's..the next generation was/is better performance wise. My point was a Cobalt is a Cavy in a way that its the next generation, just renamed.

and my point is cavys dont have a big rep for stock performance where as the cobalt does, so its not really fair to just say "a cobalt is a cavalier"....but i get what ur saying.......

I wouldn't even waste the gas at under $2...

If you have to worry about racing Cavaliers =

Brag about your first uber "street racing" experience on something V8 at least.

lol i think ppl are starting to get annoyed with me defending some 4 bangers but the cavy that came with the 2.2 ecotech engine (and yes they exsist i have one in my garage id be happy to take pics to prove it) had some stupid amounts of power up in the 5-7k range my uncle put down a mid 14 with intake and exhaust alone.

but nice kill anyone trying to pull flyby races deserves to get stomped on

i dont see the point of charging a cav though for the same price or maybe even less you can boost them and have a much much wider range of tuning to play with

How so? A Cobalt IS a Cavalier..its the same thing!!! Just like a PT Cruisor IS a Neon. Do you want to argue that one too?

How can you judge someone off of a comment? You know nothing about me.

No it wasn't the fact that it was a Cavalier, it was the fact that he was cutting through traffic like a crotch rocket and he met me and I put a stop to it... I would have done the something if it was a mustang or a duster. Its just for fun.

If I was worried about gas I wouldn't even drive this car. It only get 12ish mpg with the 700r4 now installed

IDK my 1/8 times. I raced it at was Atlanta Motor Speedway. How they race there it is a hands drop type racing. Actually it just like PINKS. There we racing down pit road. No timeslips

I raced my friend 2002 Mustang GT there a couple of times ... He was getting me by a car lenght. I had bad wheel spin. And his car was a manual and he was killing me on the gears. And thats when I had the TH-350 installed. But 3.23 in the bad. So now he traded that and he has a SRT-4 now. I will wait alittle while before I challenge him now.

So you are a police officer in a B4C Camaro then and you wrote him a ticket for reckless driving???

Otherwise I see you as a contributor to that problem.

I agree that you don't drive these cars for the MPG, no ****. Fact of the matter is that I get over 20MPG in mine and don't even care for mild ryce threats any longer, someday you too will grow up.

OOO I agree 100% that I did nothing but added to the problem. It wasn't the fact that he was cutting in and out of cars that bothered me. It was the fact I knew how he would respond when I jumped at him. Thats the reason I did it. Yeah its like shooting a bird with 50. cal. Overkill. But it was still fun... The biggest reason I did it, is becuz I been wanting to race someone (Especially since I did some more modding). But Im not the type to go out and find one (You play with fire you get burnt). And this Cavalier came to me so it was right up my alley.

Re: Camaro vs Cavalier

agreed u saw the title of the board and the title of the post if u didnt ike it dont read it..

If you think that ur gonna change his mind about street racing by posting a few words here then ur just stupid, i really dont mean any offense but really? (wait im trying to do the same thing by telling u not to read this post.... ****)

anyway everyone is young once and some grow up slower then others so u know wat have fun, be as safe as u can about it, and dont go ****ing up anyone elses life when (if ur lucky if) u screw-up

im 18 and race occasionally.. on rds know one else can pull out in front of me on, are straight(ish) and when very very few other cars are on the rd...

anyway rant over... i've just seen this trend to bash others for having fun on other boards and figured id throw in my own opinion since everyone else seemed to

ohh and when was it determined the op was a cop and had a b4c then gave him ticket? i nvr saw that

Yeah my cousin had one a 2002 Caliver Z24 2.4 It was crazy off the line. It was ping the rev limiter in a quick. We never really raced. It was alwayz mostly playing around. But the Oldsmaro would still pull away then. They are great cars. I alwayz enjoyed his. But I believe from what little I know about them. The one I raced was the older 2.2 I believe. The model with the different corner lights. And the very common mixed match bumpers. I believe
