trans am vs probe
who do you guys think would win?a 95 probe gt with a klze pushing 30 more crank hp than the 167chp de engine, with bolt on's that are dyno proven to give minimal if any extra hp,and a 75 shot nos.running on the stock 16"wheels and street tires and doing mid 9's on spray in a 1/8th.or,a 88 t/a with a built trans(2200stall,i know that's small and it's gonna get changed, shift kit,can hold the power trans)built 350(.60 over, forged internals, port matched,1.7 rollers, steep cam, dart heads, victor senior mani, msd, hei disty, pushing 550 hp and going to big roller to try for 600 hp,possibly putting some nos as well, drag rear end from strange with 4.56 gears, some draglites with 10"wide slicks, and traction.and come on guys be brutally honest.i think my trans am can take him.what do you guys think?

Re: trans am vs probe
i used to run a 9 sec probe (in my sig) it was crazy fast and super super light. It was scary fast. I havnt been in a built third gen yet, but the probe was hella fast. I was however running an FE3 with 23 pounds of turbo, and mine was a 1990 (first gen probe). I think your T/A has a chance, but its a slim one. If he is running street tires the best way to beat him is at the launch.

Re: trans am vs probe
i'm not very serious at all.i was just wondering what you guys think being as the tennessee guys on probetalk seem to think that car can beat anything on wheels.this guy honestly said that he beat a z06 in his probe.haha.but no i was just seeing how many people found this as funny as i did.this guys got all of his time wrapped up into this car and i've seen it run,on nos mid low 9's in a 1/8th.he,and everyone else on there told me that no matter what i did to my trans am it would never beat his car, lol.at the time mine was mostly stock(former tpi 305)carb,mani,msd6al,hei disty, catback, nothing big.still think that would've gave hime a good run for it.then i bought my new engine with 550 hp and they still said he would win which i thought was a laughing matter itself.just wanted to get you guys opion on it as a nuetral party, someone who has experince in v8's making power paired with rwd,and drag racing.i guess i'm just looking for obvious answers,so what do you all think?

Re: trans am vs probe
My 88 IROC when it was basically stock, automatic with 2.77 gears, and then again with 3.27 gears a slipping posi and trans the wouldn't shift outta second at WOT ran mid 9's in the 1/8th. That translated to high 14s in the 1/4

Re: trans am vs probe
Yeah mine too.
Assuming that 550hp is accurate, you're looking at no less than 440rwhp+ depending on which trans you went with. I drove my 6-speed '98 Z28 with 420rwhp/400rwtq to a 11.92@118 with a 1.83 60' and a mid-7 1/8. With a stalled auto and drag suspension, the car should've been doing 11.40s with 1/8 times in the low 7's..and you've got more power than I had then.
