thirdgens slide the *** around on a cold day (a big exaggerated i know) but really they cant drift? whos that dumb someone whos never driven one?

Anything is possible. Stiffen the suspension and get enough power going with a good driver and it will work. Any rwd car can drift if done right. The correct way of putting it would be that its not the ideal car to drift with but neither is a bus yet tanner foust pulled it off not to mention his Ford fiesta wins in rally racing. The only thing limiting you is your pocket.

i wasnt implying they cannot, i know full well that they can, how does anyone else with a thirdgen let out frustration, i go drifting in the mall parking lot cuz it closes at 8, sometimes i'll tear around some windy roads, i miss the lightweight v6 car for that though, cornering MONSTER

Drift Muscle FTW!!! i have a 240sx that i have made leaps and bounds in when it comes to perfecting my drifting abilities. but i learned to slide in my 78 Z28 with a damn auto trany and an open dif. so sick of people saying muscle cars shouldn't drift. if u look at formula d right now it is more popular to do an LS swap in a 240 than it is to do an SR swap. there is a reason. the LS7 weighs les than a stock KA24DE (the twin came engine that came in all USDM 240's from 91 to like 98) and the KA puts out 140 hp compared to the LS7 stock putting out 500hp plus it is cheeper to build the ls than it is to build the KA. muscle is better no argument required. no replacement for displacement. even the tuners have realized that. i love my 240 but i love my Camaro's more.
oh and u think u cant get angle outa a 3rd gen well think again. 54* with no tire rub.

Sliding and drifting aren't the same, in the pic above he's modified the steering to allow more angle in the wheels, that's a big part of legitimate drifting, I slide mine around a lot 90% of the time its not by choice I just live in the worst state for rain, I've screwed around at my buddies house he laid a huge asphalt pad on his property for his nissans, our cars are driftable but natural ....not so much, get used to sliding around an off balance heavy car like ours then hop into a 300z or a 350z, 240 etc, its a whole new animal, nissans are the closest I've seen to being easily driftable minor mods and a good rear axle (or welded spiders for the cheapos) and you can tear it up all day long, our cars are just less responsive than the lighter cars when it comes to drifting *without modifications*

drifting is using under steer to make your cars back slide out... power gliding thats another thing...

i plan on doing a 3rdgen fbody v6 drift car.
im going ot be using a destroked 3.4L v6 engine with a turbo,just not the s475 thats in my sig as that turbo is to laggy and when i built the motor it was going to go in my drag car more then likley i will use a t3/t61 turbo like i do on my 3.1 car this turbo will make over 400hp and 550ftlbs on the 3L motor
i plan to back the motor up with a t56 trans using a trans adapter from speedway motors which aklllows us to bolt 90* bellhousing (i.e v8) transmission behind out 60* v6 's
im not going ot spend any money on the rear i will use the stock 10 bolt and swap in some 4:56's since the 3L motor will want to turn around 8,500 rpms and i will weld the spider gears
the rest of the car will be setup as normally would, really masisve rear swaybar in the rear something in the midrange up front, stiff shocks and springs
i would be interested in knowing what u guys did to get that kind of steering angles out of the 3rdgens though

there is a lot involved in getting that kind of angle. roughly i extended the LCA's 2", notched them out a lot to allow room for wheel clearance, replaced the stock tie rod sleeves with 2" longer ones and jam nuts, shortened the steering arm on the spindle and changed the ackermann angle to make it feel smoother in drift and ad LOADS of angle. it's at 54 degrees on the leading wheel. i haven't' gotten it aligned yet so not sure the exact number on the leading wheel yet but should be between 54* and 44*. if you would like to have me do the work to your knuckles for you i could do it for $275. i wasn't able to make a jig for the LCA's i ran out of time i need to get this car back to the customer. i will do some tubular control arms for the 3rd gen once i get my own. then i will do a jig for those. if you do purchase the knuckles you will have to extend your LCA;s your self and trim them down to get the most out of your steering. i could also send the tie rod sleeves if desired.

well for one i already have the 3L motor built just need to get rid of the 75mm bw s475 turbo on it
that and they are very cheap to build when not building a destroked 3.4 pistons were 125$ each for the one offs
but if the motor ever goes out i can swap in a rpelacement 3.1 or 3.4 shortblock out of the junkyard for 100 bucks and it will hold that kind of power and rpm abuse stock with the exception of an oil pump mod and some good rod bolts
ill deffinatly have to get with u when i start to put the car together, right now im working on finishing up my twin turbo iroc which is going ot be my new daily driver once i get it 100%
i prolyl wont actually start on the drift car till july

in drift, you have to give much more importance to handling, weight reduction/car balance and steering angle than on power. But the key is to practice!!!! these car can really drift, its just harder to do than with a 240sx, rx7, ae86 etc... here is a couple of pic of mine driting (stock 305 with T5, 3.73 gears and eibach sportline)
