My Car - 1987 Pontiac Trans AM , GMZZ385 Crate Motor w/ Hot Cam and 1.6 Rockers. Open Exhaust, 9" Moser w/ 389 gears, TKO 600 Trans, MSD Ignition. Dynoed in at 423 at the flywheel and 469lbs of TQ
His car - 2003 VW GTI, Stock Turbo, 3" Downpipe, Exhaust, Chip and Cold Air Intake. Around 245hp at the wheels 300 at the flywheel.
Both Cars are manual. mine is 5speed his is 6speed.
DRAG and Autocross. Both good drivers

What would cause you to even have to ask this question? Auto-x, the drive will matter a lot more than the car, as I didn't see any suspension mods mentioned with either car, but assuming a compotent driver, the rwd car should outperform the FWD by quite a bit. Straight line isn't even a question, especially from a dig.

He has a stock turbo? I dont think 245 is possible at the wheels with the stocker. Even with a K04 I think 245 is tough to get. My friends GTI with a stock turbo put down 181 with a CAI, Diverter valve, chip, and tune. he now has a full turbo back, front mount, K04, and the other stuff and is probably a 220-230 whp car!

The question is, who can drive? I schooled a pair of WRX STi's with my stock suspensioned Grand Am at an auto-x meet, they had me running D street prepared, because of the extent of my engine modifications, which weren't doing jack for the car in auto-x, but I was still competitive against cars much better built, some people just have more wallet than driving skill. Driving skill being equal, I'm sure you'll take the auto-x, putting down power with FWD in autox is pretty tough.

it sounds like its a VW GTi 337
because the plain gti's came with a 5 speed transmission
and the 337's are an aniversary edition and have the 6 speed trans.
and they make around 180ish stock
