Is it normal for a V6 to beat a 305?

I guess that depends on the V6..
I have a tired 2.8L V6 in a 1984 Camaro I used to own, and it couldn't beat an old man using a walker.

So I pulled it and put in a 403 I had sitting around..
Great job on the kill btw.

What type of v6 do you have? My 87ss monte ran 15.5 stock. The only v6 camaro that would beat my car with the L69 was the 3.8 and not all of them would win.I am not calling B.S but I was just wondering because I would have a hard time believing you if it was a 2.8,3.1 or 3.4 for that matter if it was not modded but if you did beat it with one of those motors the motor was either tuned wrong or on its last leg.

I was going to say the same thing. Are you sure a couple of his plug wires aren't crossed or something?

The only 305 that could even beat the my monte ss were the other L69 camaros and some tpi 305s.The L69 monte ss had 3:73 gears just like the L69 camaro. This made a big difference against other 305's.Like the LO3 and alot of the late 80s auto LB9 cars I could beat till about 90 which is the 1/4 in those cars. Now the stick LB9's that came in 90-92 where way faster. My brothers buddy who used to be a third gen member or maybe he still is (he moved to another state) would smoke my monte when it was stock but any V6 F-body all through the 80s (don't even bring up the TTA's that is not even fair) and till the 3.8 I would smoke. If it has a 3.8 I could see that or a modded 2.8-3.4 but I assume if you have the stock motor in a 87 it would be a 2.8 and I knew a guy that had a 3.1 with a stick and he would never even come close to hanging with my brothers old 90 LO3 RS for that matter. This is all assuming you are stock and he is stock, but it would still not be as easy as putting some headers and a catback on.This would take some motor work to beat an L69 car.

Heck, the 1989 model Trans Am with a certain V6 option was faster than the Corvette's at the time.

I will take your word for it but something is not right with that monte.
190hp vs 135hp
240ftlbstq vs 160ftlbstq
monte weighs about 200 pounds more
monte has 3.73s

You do the math.

Good kill
