1994 Toyota Tercel (5 speed) vs 1986 Pontiac Firebird 2.8 (auto)

According to Toyota Tercel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This Tercel is rated at 110 horsepower.

My friend's Firebird, is rated at 135 horsepower.

The Tercel is actually surprisingly quick I find.

The driver of the Tercel is a very good driver... Not sure about the Firebird driver.

Here's that super fast Tercel beside my 95 Camaro!

That is a really cute car combo,,, LOL! Does the Tercel have a big block? I think it should be a close race! Is the firebird stick or auto?

I am serious, I want to see the guy with the Firebird embarassed by the Tercel.

He's going around talking a lot of smack, saying he can race ANYONE and win. I want to see him lose, and get embrassed by the "mini-me"

I think the Tercel will win, due to power to weight and a better driver. The Firebird is an auto, as stated in my topic.

I can't wait for this race to happen.

Anyone want to put money down on this?

Wow, how'd you guess?

It's not like I'm the one racing the cars, I just want to see who will win. Both of them are slow, I know, but why is it such a ridiculous question? They're still cars, aren't they?

There is nothing wrong with you trying to race really slow cars everybody here has done it at some point in time. Don't get cazy when you do race.

The firebird will kick that tercels A$$!

Watching slow cars race can be fun. Mostly because the race lasts a lot longer! LOL

i own a 95 tercel manual and i previously owned a 95 auto tercel. in it i raced a 3rd gen trans am w/ the little 6 cyl. he thought he would be a smart *** and gime a car length on the highway.. i killed him untill i let off at 110 =] i know... no more of that for me, but i could barley even see the poor kid in my mirror by 95mph.. from a dig i say it will be close, from a roll, the tercels got it..

I agree. The firebird has got 25hp more but the automatic gearbox will slow it down a lot and i probably weighs about 500kg more then the toyota?

Scary scenario, getting beaten by a crappy toyota..

The Trecel should have it, the F-body needs to run from a dig if he wants a chance. The Trecel has about an 800lbs weight advtange, you figure 100lbs=10hp, that hp difference if they weight the same works out to be 190hp vs. 135hp. The Camaros got torque, but not enough to offset all the adt'l weight. The auto tranny and probable badly geared rear are just going to hurt it more against the 5spd Trecel.

I'd race the v6 Camaro one of my Escorts, that'd be a close race.

Uuh yes this is 3rd gen related seeing as how the race was (supposed to be) between the Tercel and a 3rd gen Firebird. The 4th gen Camaro owner is the owner of the Tercel.

1987 Subaru Justy vs. 1983 Chevy Impala 3.8 liter. These are both EASY 20 second cars, I am going to bring a packed lunch and have a picnic during the race. Hopefully they don't decide to run twice, that'll be worse than watching Miami Vice 2 times in a row.

This is like watching the special olympics.

I'm glad these people have cars that are too slow to be dangerous.

That is what people say about civics. Look how many accidents involve them.

I'm thinking of a popular Streetfire.net clip of a Civic and a 3000GT - if you've ever seen it, you know what I'm talking about....
