porsche 944 vs Camaro Coupe

Ok,

so one of my friends has a 1986 porsche 944, with the non turbo 4 cylinder and a 5 speed manual, he talks crap all the time about he can beat anything and everything.. yeah.. he talks crap all the time bout his car beating his brothers vette..

anyways..

he knows im rebuilding my camaro.. heck trying to get it running.. ill be running a pretty much stock 83 camaro sports coupe, chevy 350 stock, came outta an late 80's silverado pickup, and a 700r4.. his car weighs about 2900 pounds stock.. the camaro dont weigh much more than that correct? so waddua all think?

would the 944 win.. or my camaro?

since it's the non-turbo version you'd probaly beat him unless he is good at shifting. Your camaro should way more than 2900 if i recall correctly it is like 3400.

if it really did beat a vette...i dont think a stock 350 with an auto would have much hope...but good luck!

but you don't know the condition or mods that vette has though.

well the thing is.. this kid has a big head.. hes also trying to say that while driving with his stock four banger that when hes going 50mph and downshifts he can spin the tires out on dry pavement.. this kid talks so much smack.. ive ridden in his car.. and i have to admit.. it is pretty quick.. prolly cuz its soo light.. but i dont think that it could beat any vette.. period.. unless it was parked or only had 4 of the 8 cylinders working...

his car is light.. and decently quick.. but all specs that ive found say that not even the 0-60 on a stock turbo 944 is less than 6.5 seconds... so im not thinking it would be that hard of a race.. but i dont ever really race.. so i wouldnt really know..

in his avatar it says hes got a sport coupe and most of those dont have graphics and are low optioned. mine sc has manual windows and not much luxury stuff and its weight with me(160 lbs.) in it is 3100 lbs. with no weight reduction. I think 3400 is the weight of a f body with graphics and a fair share of options.

Hey all, I had a 1988 Non turbo 944, it is only rated from Porsche at 147hp@6200rpm. It ran a 16.7 in the quarter dead stock. I also had a 1989 Turbo 944. It was rated at 255hp. It would run a 14.5 all day in the quarter. These cars were never designed to be fast in acceleration. They corner GREAT though. They are fun little cars to drive, but nothing to really worry about if you have a heathly V-8 F-body and know how to drive......
