silverado vs. 3rd gen in the woodlands
Just wanted to see if the dood i raced tonight posts on here? i think we got a good run in at the stop light. both punched it when it was green, i got a jump on him at first and lost a little traction from a puddle that was in the street. anyways, i believe around 40 he started catching up and started slowly passing me and got a good couple car lengths on me.i get up to 95, cant go anymore cuse of this speed limiter on these new trucks. anyways, he starts to brake and i get up next to him and try to give him a thumbs up. i floor it again just for fun to see if he wants to go from a roll. next thing i know, cop comes out of know where with sirens and all kinds of ****. im trying to pull over but the firebird is in my way so i just keep goin tell i can pass him up, then is see the dood in the 3rd gen start to pull over and the cop i guess just starts to pull over to get him. i just turn off to the nearest road and start haulin ***. well, im sure the dood in the 3rd gen is pissed as hell and i sure as hell wont be speeding on the streets any time soon. but i guess atleast one of us got away.

This is what pisses me off about 80's vehicles...all that emissions screw performance lets make camaros/TA's slow crap. Idk I just dont feel that theoretically a 01 silverado stock should be any V8 camaro stock. Guess I am just have my head in the clouds of 1967-72 with the whole OEM power era of true muscle cars.

its an 06' silverado with just intake and muffler. pretty slow but it'll run a 16.4stock with just a 4.8L. maybe even just a tad lower with my intake and muffler. but the 5.3L reg cab would have beatin that 3rd gen easily. those run like mid to low 15's stock.

You raced a 305 camaro. Our L98 motors(350 tuned port injection [sry if you knew this]) are beast from a dig but horrible from a roll and most run low 14s.
Good run none the less. Sucks for the guy that got pulled over. You should have got an SS tho, those are bad trucks

Both vehicles were made in different eras.. with different technologies. We live in an age where a 4 cylinder engine can have as much or more power than a 350 5.7 tpi. Lets get real folks.

try running those 80 camaro's firebirds against the 80 Chevy pick ups and see whats up.
just like running an 01 SS or Ws6 against the new silverados. its NO contest.
but some newer trucks vs our old fbodies...its a close race.
my L98 with just headers/exhaust/airbox mod and 2800 stall runs high 13s at near 100mph in the cold. 97-98 on street tires in summer time high 70s low 80's weather. no match for newer silverados. lol and its got 153K on the clock!

i mean no match for newer silverados as in, those trucks dont stand a chance against my near stock L98. you cant match the two together.
the only SS i raced was roots blown...KB blower i think. it ran 13.1x at 101-102 or something like that with a 1.80 60 on those 20inch street tires. incredible launch on his part, but from a roll, it would have been abit closer. then again, i'm not sure if that was his best run of the night. he was playin around with tuning and other stuff.

Come on guys, I thought we were all chevy enthusiasts here? Silverado SS' come in either AWD, or RWD. Doesnt take much for the AWD trucks to be a stop light monster.

haha, BROWNIE POINTS!..
But yes, I have to watch out for 4cyl cars now. I got spanked by an RSX-S the other day.

I like the new SS Tahoes. There was one at the track the other night running consistant 14.3s. I dont know if he was stock tho he did have 18s on it. I dont know what the stock wheel size is.

By intake I think he means a CAI and not a full intake manifold swap.
FWIW: The Gen III truck intake manifold (commonly refered to as "big ugly") perform very well on a stock motor and make more power than an LS1, LS6, LSX, and fast intake. It is only when modded do the other shine.

I know exactly what he means. I just get a kick out of how people say "intake", when they are talking about a CAI setup. Intake means intake manifold.

New intake in ***** speak could mean they unlatched the black piece ontop of their filter and took it off.
New intake in Domestic speak means $150+ outa pocket and a few hours consumed out of a day off. Oh~! and an actual hp/performance increase
