I still can not fathom why you would be up here bragging about your mediocre car. Its nothing. And dont say its for luxury, because thats definetly not a luxury car. Its definetly not a performance car either. I would much rather buy a decent thirdgen and spend maybe 1k on it and be faster than you, plus it would still have a lot more style. Your probably bought is just because it says SS. Have fun with you average car that blends in with everything else.
Not exactly there. Where we race its STRAIGT, about a quatrter mile. Maybe you should get out of the 80's. I HAD an 85z and really enjoyed it. If you want muscle you have to back to the late 60's early 70's. You must agree. Plus its an SS because its the FASTEST IMPALA EVER!

P.S. You should also try looking at the interior BEFORE you make an assionine opinion like that.

Hoss, I think you just need to accept the fact you came to the wrong place to brag about a car that is totally unrelated to anything on this "THIRDGEN F-BODY" website. Nobody cares! Like I said before, Im very surprised this thread has not been locked. It needs to be. And by the way, put todays tire on a 427 Impala SS, run it, and youll take back that comment about your "honda civic looking" Impala being the fastest ever made.

By the way, you need to change the information in your profile. The new 5.3 is not a 327. It is a 325. Things like this I know...Im a ASE and GM certified driveability tech. To turn your comment around, get out of the 60's!

Get out of the 80's? There was a hell of a lot more drag racing in the 80s than there were auto-x.

Fastest impala ever isnt saying much.

PS. I HAVE. Black leather seats do not make luxury. You ever drove a mercedes benz? That my friend is a luxury car.

Everywhere I read says its a 327. Ever since it was in the old Vettes. Just what I been reading. Sorry I don't waste too much time on the small stuff. I am not ESE, Im A & P. JET engines is my expertise.

P.S. I also don't consider Mercedes Benz luxury. They're excellent cars. I preder Caddy's and Lincolns!
For 1965 GM-H decided to grab for itself a slice of this market by supplementing the Bel-Air with a four-door pillarless Impala. Where the sedan was powered by a 4.6 litre, 283-cubic inch V8, the Impala came with a detuned version of the Corvette's 5.3-litre '327'.And while the leather trim that characterised earlier Chevs had disappeared, 1965-69 interiors incorporated elements of glamour that had been absent from earlier, more austere models.

American designers are the LAST thing GM and Ford needs. All their **** is borning and no one is buying it.
The new Hondas and other car companies are all starting to get a little boring with their designs. If you think about it pretty much everyone is mimicing everybodies design in some way or another.

As for the 06 Impala its a nice car the LT1 looked more badass. It will make a good police car and NASCAR plastic. Old people will love them also just like crown vics.

Although I am partial to caddys, theres no way you can compare one to a benz. Everything about them is smooth.

Every magazine calls it 327 just because it does have the same liters as 327. Same thing with the LS1 being call a 350 but really being a 346. SO WHAT! An if no one cares about the subject then why does it have more posts than any other subject right now?

I'd have to disagree. They (imports) do stay pretty consistent, but I dont think their designs are growing monotonous. The accord varies its design and has enough classes of accord to keep things interesting. I really like the design on the sports type civic, and the new maxima is a killer car, and the avalon looks pretty smooth too.

The accord looks really boring this time around the 2 door civic is very kickass and the avalon you can keep it. I think as for affordable cars go Mazda has the best looking ones right now. Maximas can look better if they will change that stupid looking grill.

Im not into them. I barely accept the exterior of my car. All around I DO like it though. Hope they make some cool aftermarket dressings. LOL

Maximas should try and keep up with the omg-sexy-as-hell-grills Audi put out with their '06 models.

LOL, yeah no kiddin. Id take a Benz and day over a stupid Caddy or Lincoln.

If you think 13.9 is anywhere close to fast, be glad you dont live in my area where theres REAL cars running around. Youd get laughed off the street with your attitude. Id rather have something along the lines of a Maxima or something than that wreck you just bought.

When I consider luxury size has alot to do with it and Mercedes Benz is a nice QUALITY car but not soo luxurious in my book! Mercedes Benz cars ALL look the same for the last 30 plus years! It IS a QUALITY car though, not arguing that.

Uh, have you ever driven in a Mercedes? If you're going to insist that Mercedes is not luxury, then there is no way in hell you can tell us that Cadillac is luxury. And how can we ever argue size? Cadallic doesn't have one single vehicle type that Mercedes doesn't have. Actually...Does Cadillac have a minivan? Because Mercedes does. Take a look at Mercedes S-class sedans. You'll change your mind in one very fast second.

Mr ASE... if you read ALL the post you would see that I never said its the fastest car on the street! Although much faster than your car when it was new, thats a fact. It IS a fact too that is the fastest Impala ever! It IS fast but how fast.. we no where it stands. If (and its closer to about 13.6) is slow, those mid to late 80's Camaros and T/A's must have been Turtles? I don't think so, I used to own one and had a about a 70% kill percentage, STOCK, at our local race strip. Not all that bad! Your just going a little over board and thats cool. I live in the city where the is more to do than just "work a motor" all day. I have better things to do like work on a Pratt & Whitney or a CFM or Rolls Royce turbine. So Im sure your cars ARE faster than a STOCK SS. And when the last time you drove the new SS. Ever?

P.S. Sounds to me like you like foreign cars better than the GM's you own Whats going on there?

What's all this talk of imports cars? Isn't this a 3rd gen Camaro site? I can't stand Accords and Camry's! They're so boring! I'll take my Grand Prix GT over them anyday I don't care how much I have to fix it! Except, Oh wait mine has over 100K on it and I haven't put a dime into repairs! It blows me away how much extra people are willing to pay to for "better reliability"! American people will bring the end to American Cars not the Car manufacturers! I personally like the SS it has staying power, which is what it needs in the segment it's in! Ok I'll shut up now!

for what it is today, the impala ss is butt slow compared to all new cars on the market. but stock for stock, sure the ss is faster then most stock 3rd gens (TTA anyone?) but money vs power, you lose big time nowadays.

If someone offered you an enzo for you impala, i wonder which one you would choose.

Edit: Wow, i forgot about the TTA. So Frank, looks like you're not faster than 3rd gens afterall.

Even if Caddy did I don't consider mini vans luxury. Although there some nice ones, Im not looking at them like that. Whoever doesn't think Caddy's are luxury, thats ashame. Also, what is Mercedes equivelant to a Escalade? They have something BIGGER I am missing? I never seen one drive by.

Read what I wrote *******! I said from a luxury standpoint, the Mercedes outclasses your stupid Impala in every way. Because I name a couple imports that are in my opinion nicer than your piece of ****, that makes me a die-hard import fan? Get real. Youre a moron. And yes, the thirdgen cars, except the the TTA were pitifully slow. For their time, I guess they were on par with what everything else was running. But today, they suck...just like spending $30K for your stupid Impala and being stuck running a measly 13.9 sucks.

By the way, I wish you did live near me. Id run you with my 305 and make an *** out of you.

Look up G500 my friend, along with the GL450. Which I dont prefer the looks of the G500, but you're a high roller if you have one.

Whoever said caddy's are not luxurious? I only said that if you cannot find the luxury in Mercedes then you have no right to even opinionate whether caddy's are luxurious because obviously you don't understand what luxury means. Luxury is usually the higher end of any product in regards to price and quality. Higher end Mercedes vehicles are certainly more expensive, more well-built, faster, smoother, and downright sexier than the higher end Cadillac vehicles.

But no one is saying Caddy's aren't great, luxurious cars... Because they certainly are. They just are not par with the best of Mercedes. Sorry.

I agree with your statement about the people and the future. Part of the problem is that the "muscle race" cars lost their looks and production a little while back. There are no IROCS and T/A's around. Now a days these young kids think that the foreign cars like Civica and Nissans are real race cars. THEYRE NOT! Japs make fast motorcycles. There is just a LOSS of good old muscle!!!

Maybe... whats your numbers? How much invested? If stock, thats a joke.

You're forgetting resale value. What's your car worth with all those miles $3,500? LOL

Im not saying stock for stock dip****. But for no more than what 2 of your car payments would be for that ****box, im beating you with a 305...on motor. Plus, all of my cars...with the exception of the IROC will do nothing but continue to go up in value. Your Impala will not. The rest of the cars in my fleet would KILL you. Im telling ya moron, youre fighting a losing battle. Keep talking, and keep digging that hole. With each reply, youre just making yourself look like a bigger idiot.

Sorry, your car isnt fast. Yes its fast compared to the 80s, but not by todays standards on what people call fast cars. You have to be running 12s to be taken seriously now.

Let's get real. I'd say a 13 second daily driven pavement pounder is pretty respectable. There still isn't too many popular production cars that do that today. If you told me the new Impala SS does, I really wouldn't believe you. Regardless, that car isn't appealing to me, although I'm told the LS4 is a decently reliable and peppy powerplant. I prefer the '60's versions, and the early to mid '90's SS all the way.

The damn thing isnt even a low 13. I know plenty of people with daily driven 12 sec cars. 13s is nothing. Take a 13 sec car to your local race hang out, only if they actually have real cars and not just decorated ones, and see how good 13 seconds does against them.
