84 camaro vs. 06 raptor
So my buddy wants to race his raptor against my camaro and I said ok.
His 2006 raptor is stock.
My 84 camaro has gears, shift kit, 350 bored 30 over, and bad wheel hop.
He will only race the 1/8 because as he says I'll pull on him after that. I said ok we will do 1/8. I've driven it to the top of 4th gear and i noticed its hard to keep the front down in first and after that its just full throttle and shifting.
We are racing on pavement also with me on street tires and him on his stock tires.

The 06 Raptors are the 700R's correct? I think hes got you in the 1/8. My 660R is piped, and jetted and it hauls in the 1/8. You would definitly win in the 1/4 beacuse he will top out around 75 in the 1/4.

Anything at speed and you will win. However, I would say to 40mph or so he will beat you. What are the complete specs on your car?

no, the raptor is a quad aka 4-wheeler. the 06's are fuel injectedand practicly race ready.

The new 700 models are ALOT more stable compared to the 01-05 660R's. He shouldnt have a hard time keeping the front end down beacuse Yamaha made the front ends heavier. Mine wheelies threw the first four gears, gets annoying sometimes, but still lots of fun. If you do race him your going to need a little more than the 1/8 to win.
btw- The yfz450 is Yamahas "Race Ready" quad.
But the Raptors are the trail kings.

i personally like the banshee's more ground clearance. and can build up better. imo
But i think i might have a chance as long as i dont spin.

I've seen 4 wheels run at a 1/8 mile track they all ran under 8.2 sec and some of them ran high 7's

Yeah when it comes to building a quad the banshee is almost unstopable. Unless you run into a built up LT-500 QuadZilla lol. Not sure what they run in the 1/8 stock. I would guess a high 8, low 9. The ones at the track i doubt were stock.

Then again his is far from stock so i suppose that doesn't realy count. O well banshees are kick *** and i agree ou will probably get walked on an 1/8 mile track by the 06 raptor.

I think it's going to depend on how much tread his stock tires have on them, and if he's ever raced a quad on pavement. Pavement and tires with thick tread aren't a good mix, he'll be swerving all over the track unless he's got some experiance with it.

I have really got to drive the new 700s. I drove a 660 and was addicted! they are so freakin fun! if the guy can drive it very good it will be a pretty close race. you should get it on tape.
