why would u risk a grand, just cuz he is in a volks? if someone bet me like that, i'd be scared , like a sleeper or something, and were you carrying 1k in cash or did u plan to give him an IOU?

So some random guy in a stock VW came up to you, offered to race you for $1000 without knowing anything about you or your car, you beat him by 10 cars, and he drove up, gave you $1000 and told you his Civic would win, and then drove off...
I wont throw any flags, or call anything... But thats basically how the story went, right? What are you going to do with the $1000 you now have?
Where are these people when Im out on the street!

Well, I know when I'm out in my VW Cabrio that I make sure to keep a grand in cash with me for just such occasions when I might want to lay it all on the line...

wasnt monopoly money lol i dont know what his deal was but he did it. i did not have 10 bucks on me when he asked and i accepted, i simply hoped there was nothing big done to his car but i didnt hear a blow off valve and i figured there isnt to much more to a cabrio you can do so i said yes. He was a idiot thats all i can tell you but wouldnt you probobly do the same thing if he asked you? it as common sense to tell this guy yeah. Im putting the 1000 into getting new heads for my new motor i just bought. So i would never race somebody for 1000 dollars if i wasnt almost sure of a win becuase i cant afford that anyway.

I probably wouldn't have accepted without checking out his engine. And even then, it would have been hard for me to accept. For all I know he has a 15:1 compression motor running race gas that's putting out 400hp NA.
Blow off valve doesn't mean anything..you can have a BOV vent back into the intake, and it is all but silent. Either way, you're not going to hear a BOV while sitting at idle when he's talking to you before you accept it..

You guys still dont think this really happened do you??? I dont know what i can tell you to make you believe this who in this world makes up a story about a race witha VW Cabrio i mean guys i know thats the hottest car on the market right now and the are so fast and you can only lie about beating one, just set aside the fact that this guy laid down 1000 on the race and talk about the acual race now. Do you know what you can do to a cabrio to make that thing an amazing machine. Lets focus on just the race not the money. Yes, ANY REPLYS ON JUST THE RACE NOW PLEASE. TALK ABOUT THE CARS!!!!! Becuase i dont really care wheather you believe me or not this can be for my self enjoyment only but i do wanna know who would race a Cabrio vs a Camaro, what can you do to these Street Rods???
Thanks, Tim
Thanks, Tim

Its a VW, theres a good deal you could do to one to make it fast. Not sure what motors they came with stock (maybe the 2.0 who knows) but a 1.8T with a turbo and a good amount of work would walk all over a stock or mild 350! My friend has one with not much done (a GTI 1.8T, but Im sure we could get that motor into a Cabrio) and put down 181 hp to the wheels on a dynapack (should be a high 13s car)!
I havent called BS and wont, but you do have to look at it from our perspective... A VW rolls up, says race for $1000, you do, beat him badly and he gladly pays you. That just doesnt and shouldnt happen.
But if you arent lying, cool. $1000 should be a nice set of heads for you!

No one in their right mind would roll up to some random car and flash that kind of cash. The guy didnt even have a fast car,and had no idea of what this kid had under his hood. I am not calling anything yet but this doesnt sound right.

I believe the story. I just cant believe the guy handed you $1,000. Usually you both show the cash and have someone hold on to it. Is there something in the air around where u live?

I will say, for someone willing to throw another random guy $1000, you think he would have a nicer car than a VW. I mean, all the VW owners I know wouldnt just toss someone else $1000, but then again a lot of this story is made of things noone I know would do!
Was it cash in $50s, $100s, $20s... How did he pay. Check, cash, food stamps???
