eh... I would be carefull. I would race from a dig. All other Scions are terribly slow except for that one. If my 145hp cavy is faster than a stock LO3 than I would be careful of a 160hp car with a similar weight. He could run mid to high 15's bone stock.

Ya i hate to put down any Camaro but bone stock those lg4/l03 are kind of slow. I mean tiny peanut cam,restrictive heads,exhaust/intake same story, but at least they look good. I still think the Camaro will win beacuse the lo3 makes 170 hp and weighs less. The TC makes 160 and is heavier. Either way it could be a drivers race anything can happen out there.

Mid 15s for the Scion tC is pretty accurate - the car weighs just over 2900lbs which is still a bit heavy but a few hundred pounds lighter than a thirdgen.

You have to think though, I have 100 ft/ lb of more torque than him. I'm probably pushing 285 or so because of my exhaust.
But if i get that 3.42 gear installed I know for a fact i would beat him.

I dunno if its me or not but the Exhaust and open element seemed to help me on top end. Seems it runs a little faster

If I had a drag car it would be carbed for sure, definitly not tpi. For the street tpi works good for me. When I said there intakes were restrictive I was talking about the intake manifolds, but your right the L03/LG4 could both use some tuning. Kind of like how you refuse to run tpi, I refuse to run tbi. So what ever works for you.

Lol yeah obviously I wouldnt want TBI either, but I'd take it over TPI. I prefer a carb on anything, or for FI I'd prefer HSR.

What are you talking about? The Scion tC is not that bad of a car at all. It actually looks decent, and it is not nearly on the same level as a brick for aerodynamics..you're thinking of the Scion xB...which yes, is incredibly slow, a guy at my work let me drive his new one the other day.
The Scion will probably eat your L03 for breakfast, but go ahead and race him anyways. He might see tail lights for the first few feet, but I have a feeling he'd reel a L03 in fairly quickly.

Eh, oh well, at least we can laugh knowing what really happens when they ever do race.
Louder cars always feel faster; you probably didn't gain as much as you think. I'm sure the cat-back and intake helped, don't get me wrong, but it didn't magically turn your car into a low 15sec car.
You might beat him to 40 or 60 if you get a good launch on him, but if you guys are racing near a 1/4 mile or start from a roll, I think he'll take you.

Once again a simple mistake was taken out of proportion. I have absolutely no problem with admitting my mistakes, but I don't need to hear smart *** remarks when I do make them.
Instead of saying,
You could say, "Oh, your thinking of the xB".
The xB has a 1.5L engine putting out 103hp with 101tq whereas the tc has a 2.4L that puts out 160hp and 163 tq.

Scion Tc's are not fast. I have saw a video of a TC going 0-50 and it was not impressing. But if i DID lose it would not be by much.. and i THINK a 3.42 would even the gap if I DID lose.
Btw.. I read up on some Tc times and its rare for them to break under 16. 15.8 was the best i saw.
So it would be a really close race. and like i said i think getting a 3.42 gear would make the difference if i lost.

tC's are faster than you think. Think of it this way. The scion has a closer gear set, shorter ring and pinion, less weight, and more top end RPM power than a L03. Not to mention it either has a 2.2, or 2.4 DOHC engine that makes a decent amount of torque for what it is.
Dont be surprised if you lose.
Get headers, a TBIchips chip (since thats the easiest/cheapest way) and get 3.42's. You might win then.

Not to play devil's advocate but have you riden/drove an M5 Z24 with the 2.4 or driven an new ('03 thru '05) M5 Ecotec car? There are plenty of mid 15 timeslips from those cars (in stock trim) over on www.jbody.org. I wouldn't worry about the 4dr cars and or the auto cars as you will beat those with ease. However, the economy packaged (zero options 2500lbs or so curb weight) M5 coupes were considerably faster.
When my LO3 was stock my buds stock M5 '98 Z24 would beat me on a highway roll. I would toast him off the line but he would run me down. The base 2.2 Ecotec cars are lighter and make only 5hp less (150 vs 145).
I have raced a few LO3 and LG4 cars in my cavy and have won every time. It is actually pretty funny.

it traps higher and will let you have a bit more fun however your ET won't change much at all unless your current tranny is slipping. Anyone that complains about reliability of a WC T-5 over the 700R4 is just a plain moron. Once you drive a V8 with a stick, you won't want anything else.
A T-5 will put up with a sh*tload of abuse and keep running. That "300 ft-lbs of tq limit" bullsh*t is exactly that..

well sure I'm not saying it's going to last forever behind a 11 second car launching hard on slicks. I'd want a built T56 for that.
But for street driving with 400 at the fly I'd trust one any day.

Just wondering, I may consider an Lt1 swap down the road or I may not, depends on my budget...

lets put it this way, i dynoed roughly 180RWHP on my L03, here is my mod list
L98 cam, open element, performer tbi intake, 180* t-stat, low temp fan switch, catco highflow cat, dynomax cat back, accel coil and 8.8 wires. and i have 3.42 gears. i ran a 15.2@89 with my highest trap speed being 93mph.

What chip work do you have? If you have none you are leaving out 30+ hp.
The LO3 is weak in stock trim but simple mods really wake it up.

there is no chip work done at all to my knowladge, i bought the car with the motor rebuilt with the modifications(he told me it was a L98 cam) i added the 3.42 gears cuz my 3.08 rear had a nasty nosie as soon as u move in the car(i got the 3.42 rear from a bone yard with 15K on it, for 125$)
