beat a 1.8t vw gti

long story short, an a-hole in a 1.8 cut me off ( just another bad driver). so i get a little aggravated and start to pass him in the other lane. well it was a kid about my age with a friend. i had 2 other people in my car. his friend must have gave him the idea to race because when we reached a red light, he did his blow off valve intimidation attempt. I said f it and load my car to around 1300. light turns green he gets the jump, i hit second and get even with him. third was all mine, pulled about 4 or 5 lengths on him and decided that was good enough. made me happy cuz my friend has a 1.8t and wants to race me.. now i know the outcome.

2, Just because you beat some dork with a BOV doesnt mean you can beat others. Stock turbos can make 200whp and 250lb-ft of torque and they have awesome gearing.

The one we are building at my work (VW Performance shop) is going to be 350whp. After I finish with that, I will probably be moving on to the race car, which will be over 600whp. Our highest car at the moment is 497whp. Stock head/intake/cams.

Yeah Id be careful with those 1.8T's, they can be made into nasty machines with stock internals.
