Post your funny racing stories

The other day I pulled up to a stoplight on the street in front of my house and guess who pulled up next to me? A r**e racer of course. Before I continue let me say that this was when I still had a tired old 2.8L v6 that leaked enough oil to power a refinery in my camaro. His black maxima with 20" rims, tinted windows, a coffe can muffler that sounded like a rider mower and enough neon lights to make a hooker feel at home made him the fitting image of every half-brained r**er stereotype I'd ever seen. He revved the poor 4 banger high enough to hit the rev limiter then waited for my reply. I just stared at him. With the plume of smoke coming out of the back of my car it's no wonder he thought I was an easy target. The light changed, I put the gas halfway down and took off. With all the noise his car was making I thought he was actually keeping up with me, but a quick glance in the mirror showed me he was 2 car lengths behind me! I kept it at half throttle for a full block and he still couldn't catch up! By then I was laughing so hard I had to let off the gas or I would've hit the median. After almoast 2 blocks he finally caught up and tried the loser flyby street ricers are so famous for, then cut infront of a truck like the sore loser he was. The 2.8L gets a lot of crap for being a low performace budget made piece of crap, but 20 year old technogy triumphing a brand new japanese car gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Long live Detroit muscle!

well this is funny i was being followed by a ford focus and he was riding my bumper. I told my brother next to me to get the ford emblem out from under is seat (we just got back from a junkyard and riped it of a ford car). he pulled next to me at a redlight and was redlineing is poor car. my funny brother right before the light turn green sticks the ford emblem out the window spits on it whips it on the ground and the light just turn green as the ford emblem hits the ground and i take of fast as hell. well later on down the road he is so mad he forces me onto oncoming traffic. and trys to throw something in my car. we outran him again

I can see this thread getting closed here pretty soon. Isn't there already a racing section?

Me and my friend were coming back from somewhere in his "old mans" 1992 Olds Delta 88 4-door. The road is 3-lanes wide and we're sitting at the stop light when a Japbox and a V6 Rustang stop at the light reving their engines. Obviously they are fixing to race each other.....not paying any attention to the grandpa mobile in the far right lane. Light turns green and my friend floors it winding out the 3.8L wrong-wheel-drive wonder. The Japbox is left way behind and the guy in the Crapstain looks over expecting to see his friend but all there is was some guys in a beat up Olds looking at him laughing!

I don't have to many problems with my '71 Trans Am. The 455 H.O. decals on the shaker scare them away.

I was racing my stock 84 T/A at the track a few years back. As I was putting down the track a few friends of mine were watching. They did not realize it was me.

One guy remarked to another "Wow, that must be a 6 cylinder". My other buddy replied "No, thats a stock 305 w/ over 100k miles"

My ET: 17.6

Maximas are 6 cylinders. It was probably one of the oldest Maximas ever produced, because if it were any of the newer ones, you would have had to make this whole story up.

Honestly I don't know the difference between a '90 and an '05 maxima, but my friend owns a '94 that's a 4 cyl.

I lost a race to a dodge neon once.

I guess I should have used the other 9/10th of the paddle I had left.

Damn that was a close race.

I think stu's mission on this board is to destroy the ignorance we all have towards the import car scene. AND just because he's chinese doesn't mean he can't see over the steering wheel or nearly clips you in lane changes. Nope nope nope.

However, I have never figured race into the term "r i c e r" If anything, the only people who make me really look twice are the albino children who drive lowered montes and cadiwacs on 12" cali wheels with twin 30" subwoofers and wearing FUBU.

I'm pacific islander, nearly asian to most peoples eyes, my girlfriend is chinese...but I drive an american car.

As for my funny race story, and no offense to any import enthusiast, but my friend took his ford windstar van with a dealer optioned mustang v6 and beat two civics and an LS integra. The look on their faces was the most memorable moment of my life.....walked by a van.

Oh poor stu, did I hurt your feelings with my insinsitivity twoards the subtle differences between japanese cars? Here, let me make a cup of tea so we can sit and talk about our feelings. Just kidding, I'm not that big a jerk, but racism is racism nomatter where it comes from. I'm the least racist person you'll ever meet and didn't mean anything other than what I said, so chill out. By the way, the person driving the Altima/Maxima (whatever it was) was white.

Funny look isn't it. Like he said no disrespect to the import crowd (I don't like them but thats just my opinon), but my funniest most memorable race was racing a "Canned, Body Kit, and Winged" Eclipse GSX from a 75 punch on the highway with 5 other people in my G20. He was cruising 65 in the fast lane on a fairly deserted piece of highway. We pass several cars, me almost riding his *** because he won't move over. I am wanting to cruise about 80-90. So I Go to the inside lane, finger is on the accelerate button on the cruise, get even with him, the SOB downshifts and puts the pedal down, sounds like a ticked bee, meanwhile we are now doing about 75. All the time I have been in OD with my finger on the cruise accelerate button. I slam the pedal home, my 700r4 kicks back into 2nd, the flowmasters drone, and the 275 RWHP TBI 312 screams to 5,600, the tach just kicks straight up to 6,500 which is 85 mph, the trans shifts into third with a jolt and a burst of speed, I am now at 85 and 3,800 rpm, and about 3 van lengths in front of him, I move over into the fast lane and reset the cruise for 80. He decides to do a ***** fly-by at like 100 mph in the slow lane, gets back in front of me and slows down to 70, cruise is still set at 80. Go to the slow lane, get up nearly even, and the SOB takes off again. This time, I just held the pedal to the floor until he was like 1/2 mile back. The 140 speedo was pegged!!! My 5 passenger LMAO. DEPRESSED look on the guys face!!!!

Thats the View he got.

Thats a 140 speedometer nearly pegged in OD.

Thanks, I have had a couple of buddies make fun of the spare, roof rack, and the ladder on the back. I told them that it was my own theme. I think that it adds to the effect. The picture I posted is the view some of these guys get. Seems, no self-respecting driver wants to be passed by a van and will do anything to stay in front of it. Including staying in the fast lane. Like I'll be getting on the highway and they will speed up to try to keep me from merging on in front of them. Oh is if fun to mash the go pedal and get in front of them.

The sleeper part is why I have it. It is just fun to beat-up on the guys that think there economy car is fast. I had a Turbo Civic racing me one day and he was getting pissed. I can't wait until I get the Dart Iron Eagle Headed 450 FWHP 396 small block TBI engine with the 150 shot built and into it. Hoping for 13s NA and 12s on the Juice. I am stepping up to a 4L80E transmission controlled by a piggyback PCM and Rbobs EBL for Engine Management. I am shooting for 450 FWHP, 550 ft/lbs, 600 HP on the Juice, 800 ft/lbs, 18 MPG at 70 MPH, be reliable, and still pass smog.

The 5.3 will push the newer vans into the high 16s. The 6.0 AWD with 3.73s will make a mid 16 @ 85 MPH. I don't know what the Duramax or 8.1 will do it in. The old 350 vortec is low 17s @ 80 MPH. They have decent power stock.

Well you compare my dads vortec 350 255 FWHP and 330 ft/lbs pulling 5,700 lbs to say my sisters 02 Nissan Sentra 1.8s 117 HP and 120ft/lbs and 3,200 lbs. You kinda get the point. It takes alot of work to make an economy car run hard. Even with the few mods some of the guys in this area do(more into body kits, exhaust, CAI, etc to get the women), they are still pretty easy to beat.

Car full of girls pulled up beside me at a stop sign, I took off normal and they took off with everything their car had in it. Some 4 door import, maybe a Camery or something similer in size. I looked over and the girl driving had such an intense look on her face trying to catch up to me and the other 3 girls were rooting her on I sped up a bit and left them till my turn came up

It was Sunday nite and I was outside a Wendy's eating a burger... I see a little toyota truck @ the light...and some big oranvge muscle car with a black stripe (nopt sure what model it was), but it sounded mean... the muscle car reved a few times... the toyota 4 cylinder reved (like a sewing machine)... The light turned green, the muscle car stalled, the toyota left rubber! The muscle car couldn't get started... the toyota came back and honked his hown as he passed him in a victory retake

One day i took the maro out just to cruise around. I turn a corner and i am coming up to the stop light, as i approch i see a riced out cavilier ( and yes i know i'm saying r*ce cause it was) body kit, fart pipe, huge wing, everthing. The kid has a visor on and is sunk clear down in his seat bumpin some music. I rev at him. He looks over at me and nods his head, i didn't even think he wanted to go because he didn't seem to get ready or tense up or anything. so i'm sitting at this stop light thinking we arn't going to race. Light goes green and i hear this kids motor start screaming. I apply half throttle and proceed to walk him, wasn't even close to a challange and i just laughed the whole way.

Wonderful moments.

People always seem to knock on kills of that sort, as it seems to not even be a necessary "race," but I see it as a requirement.

When I feel the area is safe enough, I never hesitate to teach my native retard enthusiast how much power a wing really does add.

*Disclaimer* this is not an insult to any import guys, just the crowd of wannabes who have some distorted view on what power adds are*

Stu managed to use two comedic cliché phrases that cleverly meshed with this thread and no one got it.

Attention everyone. Stu wasn't trying to pick a racial or car loyalty fight.

I have the same feeling about the wannabes and no disrespect to a FAST import, but my stock 175 FWHP carbed 305 van could show tailights to alot of the sport compacts in my area. It ran a 17.8 @ 76 in the 1/4 BONE stock with over 150,000 miles on it. A recurved distributer, rejetted carb, and flowmasters had me down to a 17.0 @ 83. Combine that with most of the guys that were my age, could not drive and most were standards. I just mashed the pedal and it would shift at the factory 5,000 RPM shift point.

My Mom has a 1995 Acura Legend 230 HP V6, 6 speed that ran a 14.5 @ 93 out of the box. Atleast get something that has some power.

What really burns me about wannabe ricers is not only do they look stupid to everyone else, but they have to act like jerkoffs too. A kid on my block with a riced-out civic revs up his engine every time he goes past my house. Must be because I burned him in my car so many times. It seems like the only ricers worth racing drive cars without exterior mods. Sometimes when I'm on the highway at night guys in stock looking 240-z's or eclipses will try to race me and end up suprising me when their quiet little shoe-box of a car turns into a turbo'd rocket. The only thing that gives the sleepers away is a slight whisle coming from the turbo'd ones and a "pitter-pat" noise from the heavily modified n/a ones.

This just happened to me last night. I was driving my beater 83' Volvo 240 5spd wagon from San Pedro last night and this 94-95 Mustang pulls up next to me, so i said what the hell and revved on him. It became apparant to me that this was a V6 Mustang, as it just had the standard rear fascia and single exhuast with the typical V6 note. Anyways, the light turns green and i drop the clutch and we go. I pulled about 1 car on him up to about 50mph, where he proceeded to fly by me. I'm not willing to go over 50mph on any surface streets so i just kept cruising. Well, we get to the next light and he revs on me, so i go ahead and rev back and we went again. Same thing. I pulled on him up to 50, the look on his face was priceless, and i bet it was particularly embarassing because he had is girlfriend with him. So we got to the final light before the freeway, and we catch a red. We went for a 3rd time, up from gaffey on to the 110, where after 50mph, he proceeds to fly away. Funniest thing having this volvo. Ricers and V6 stang's pick on ME! Funny night heh.

There is always some hidden literary talent in stu's replies, however, I think he gets more enjoyment from us laymans when we get all pissed, obviously missing the gem in his replies.

lol yah there are a lot of stupid people out there with money that spend it in all the wrong places!

Once when I was in my 84 Z28 (305 L69, 200,000+ miles) I was stopped at a light, when someone in a Japanese something or other pulls up next to me. It was a stock car, no muffler or anything, and he destroyed me. Boy am I glad I don't have the Z anymore... that thing was slow!

I too am a converted r i c e r. But I don't see myself as that word, as my car is all speed except for the rims! (see avatar)

BTW, all Maxima's are V6's.

we went to church with a kid, and we saw him cruising one night and we pulled over in the local homeland grocery store parking lot and started talking to him, we then started to race him, my brother had a 93 chevy silverado swb with a carbed motor built for towing, the other kid had a stock, manual square-body dakota we took off with the truck in 1st lit the tires up, then second tires still spinning, then 3rd tires still spinning, then he let off the gas (dakota was already ahead) gave it gas again spun again, did it a few more times, finally got traction then it was the end of the parking lot, the dakota already one, but i know which one would pull (tow) better

i rolled up at the stoplight with a riced out civic in the middle lane and a integra on the far right. They both revving at each other, didn't even notice my car. I gave a good healthy 5grand rev, both turned with amazement and shear fear. THeir faces were priceless. When the light turned green I spun all the way down the intersection while they were still at the light. Another time I was in my 02 ws6 heading to my sisters house around 9pm. This 02 honda accord 2 door coupe v6 wanted a piece of the ls1. Needless to say i was literaly running circles around him. I pulled a good 12-13 car lengths on him. I slowed down and he tried to do a ***** flyby on me. WHen he got to my door, i dropped it into 3rd gear and proceeded to put another 12-13 car lengths on him.

i got a few stories

i was in my moms 02 jeep cherokee laredo v8, nice little 4.7 under the hood. three lane road stopped at a stoplight(left lane civic(lowered, exhaust intake, rims), middle lane civic(body kit, rims, intake, exhaust, painted like skyline in 2fast 2furious), right lane me in the jeep) less that 1/8 mile down the road im already 3 car ahead of them still pulling. im thinking its a good high 15 low 16 second jeep. i also beat a 305 tbi camaro in this jeep(i know it will beat my 305 tbi firebird)

2nd, going down the highway in my dads 90 f-350 351 with 35" mud terrians. a early 90's eclipse with a coffee can on the back rides up beside me and goes past. i speed up and i hear him drop it once i get back to him so i put it too the floor. its sad when a old truck beats the r*cers.

one of my friends had a mid 90's ls integra(exhaust, body kit, rims, lowered, r*ced) thought he could beat me but i beat him in my 92 305 tbi firebird(all stock). he got his moms jetta and swore he could beat my 91 305 gta(minor bolt ons), of course didnt beat me in that either. then his mommy bought him a 04 wrx turbo(not a sti) came up to my work saying that now he could deffinitly beat me, didnt happen. 3 weeks later wrapped it around a tree. now he has a integra gsr swore up and down that he could beat me in that, and of course didnt touch me once again. all with a 91 305 tpi gta with the t-5 about to drop out from underneath it

I was coming home one night and there was some jerk in an '88-'91 Civic hatchback with the usual 5" muffler, euro tails and not much else. Well he's weaving through traffic like he's the king of the world, and I decide It's my civic duty to put him in his place. So I pull alongside him, just minding my business. He puts it into a lower gear (probably second. We weren't goping terribly fast) and starts flooring it, letting off. Flooring it, letting off. Well I let him do that a couple of times, and then the exhaust cutout gets opened, the transmission goes down into second gear, and the gas pedal gets put to the floor. I think he was putting it down too, but I still left him like he was standing still. He took the next exit.

Later that night when I was almost home I stopped beside an older Jetta. I can't remmeber what kind exactly, but it was the 80's version with the squarish tail lights. The thing sounded like ***. The light turned and we both took off normally, and then he just booted it and took off. Quick. Still feeling good about telling that Civic what's up, I put my foot down. But the transmission had already shifted into second gear (because I wasnt on the gas very hard to begin with) so all it did was gurgle and makle me look like I would have been more worthy to race a dumptruck. I guess you can't win 'em all..

That's the reason I like my exhaust cutout. I can open it to scare the living **** out of someone, and then I can leave it closed and stomp on it and nobody knows about it until they see me start to pull away...

I don't need to know what your car runs, you said minor bolt ons, and with your specific car that is anywhere from 15-16 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

The 2004 WRX (non - sti) runs 14.6 stock.
