85 z28 vs 99 cougar
85 z28 305 tpi mostly stock except for throttle body bypass k&n filters (if you can call that a mod) and gutted airbox vs 99 cougar v6 2.5 auto completely stock. wondering who would win from a 20 mph roll. he says 2nd gear is dangerous. i think the cougar has 170-175 hp stock but it weighs a bit less than my fatmaro

My cousin has a 5spd that ran like 16.4@88 at hte track. Granted he had like a 2.6 60' time because he can't drive, but even if he had a decent 60', that MPH is good for a mid-high 15. The autos, as stated, I'm sure are even slower.
The larger cam that your '85 305TPI has should keep you out in front.

I'd put a Cougar on the same level as a Cavalier, though most Cougar guys would resent that. I utterly destroyed a Cavalier today on my way home from my buddy's house. Was behind him off a light a couple car lengths and hen I started smelling bad exhaust (like he was WOT), so I went to about 3/4 throttle, reeled him in, and passed him without a problem. No idea what engine it was or what trans. If I had to guess it was an automatic. Just a black Cavy with taillight blackouts, window tint, and an exhaust. We got to probably about 60 or 70 (I still don't have a working VSS).
Then again...I'm not stock, but I have no doubt you'd take a Cougar ESPECIALLY from a dig. The '99s also didn't rev well up top either due to alternator issues in most of the trims that year.

The dumber person is the one who got reald in. I'm surprised you actually beat him in the rain. Any V8 with monster power at the rear would have probably spun like mad and go nowhere fast. Only cheesballs egg on other people to street race in the rain. The better person woulda shook his head and say "no". This is how unfortunate accidents happen.

i was agreeing on duronclockers encounter with a cavalier (mine was a sunfire) that they are slow. if i wanted to brag about it i would have posted a new topic on it. so next time a sunfire or cavalier messes with me in the rain i will think of your nice heartfelt lecture, ok mom
