Audi S4 fun

friend of mine just bought a '01 audi S4 with 24k on it. he brings it over and wants to go for a ride. yikes!! that darn thing is wicked FAST. all wheel dirve and twin turbos. yeeeehaaaaa!!!

after the ride he wants to try the ol' Z out so what the heck worst i can do is looze.

we head out. on the way he wants to give it a try on the highway sooooo, highway is clear ahead and we are doin about 50 so let the games begin.

he nails it and and pulls just about half a car then my Z finds her legs and she starts to run. by 65 i pull back even and by 80 his bumper is at my door and it is time for common sense to kick in.

couple of minutes later we arrive at the place where i like to thrash the car. no access, no curves, no houses, no hills, just about 3/4 of a mile in a stright line.

we line up and he starts reving the engine. oh lord what have i got myself into. BAM he nails it hard with almost zero wheel spin and i am now lookin over at his back wheel. noooooooooooo never had that happen before.

as i listen to his waste gate bleed off excess boost (psssst) i can hear the thunder of my small block commin up to power as i start to pull back on him.

at around 40 he goes for second and the ol girl pulls a fender on him. full power now and she (my Z) grabs hard for second BANG and he is now at my bumper. by the time we get to 75 it is time for the fat lady to sing.

closest race i have had since i put the engine in. looks like the 2.77s are going to have to go and the HSR is looking pretty good too. no need to take chances.

ran him one more time and looked like a rewind of the same race. he just wanted to make sure it was no fluke.

2.77s out the window, yup.

we looked up the numbers on the S4 it's no slouch.

0-60 mid about 5.6 quarter listed at about 13.6

the new one does 0-60 in 4.8 quarter in 13.3 and has a whopping 414 bhp according to car and driver.

that all wheel drive is darn discouraging. in all the races i have run it is the only time i lost a hole shot.

WEll ya Of course, It's turbo'ed, Almost no traction issues thanks the the AWD, and it's not like it's a slow car to begin with. Very nice race i'd say. good job man

I'm sorry, what does being turbo have to do with traction issues? I don't think you've ever riden in a turbo car before.

I'm not saying anything about the turbo causing traction issues. I'm saying the car is turbo'ed.
the car has little traction issues cuz of AWD.
and its not that slow of a car to start with.

3 seperate sentences. thanks

And also the first car I ever drove on the street was a turbo'ed eclipse. thanks anyway stu

oh okay, i didn't understand what you said either.

A turboed, AWD car can be quite nasty in the hands of a capable driver, I.E. Evos and STis.

seriously, 3.23 or 3.42 probably 3.42 seem to be the best all around choice.

yeah i hear ya on gas prices. For sure go with at least 3.42s, you probably wont even feel a difference with 3.23.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, and Subaru WRX STis. Both boosted 4 bangers with AWD, 5 speeds standard, 6 speed optional in the evo I believe with the MR edition. Both have around 300 HP and respond VERY well to mods. A little slow on the top end, but quarter mile monsters due to the awd.

The S4's are nice. Some kid on another board is talking trash thinking his stock S4 will beat my car which is laughable at best(I trap at around 108 )

Nice kill
