82 Ta vs 90 Eclipse GSX
My buddy has the 82 Ta, he wants to know how he would fair against a 90 GSX, from a roll and dig.
The 82 is a 305 (lg4) auto. Not sure on the gears
THe Gsx, is a 90 eclipse turbo AWD, 5 speed. stock. rated at around 200 hp i think.
Just wondering how the outcomes would be, i told him i was pretty sure he would get walked pretty good

You will get smoked if he can launch.
I raced one from stop till about 65mph, his rear bumper was at front bumper the whole time. He is a buddy of mine and it runs 15 flat. 5 speed and he launched at 4500. Stock with fresh valve jobb.

i don't know. i raced one a couple of years ago with my lo3 and beat it by about a 1/4 of a car. that was when i had a crappy engine and even crappier gears. i also for some reason couldn't get traction because there was gravel on the side of the road. he put about 3 cars distance between us then i just caught up with him. i don't know if the car was out of tune or what. i suprised me that i beat him and him.

Don't forget the 3000GT/Stealth and the Starion there all mighty know it all. Acura isn't an American company, it's just a branch of Honda, just as Cadillac is a branch of Chevy. Yes, most Hondas and Acuras are built here, now. I don't know if my Acura was built in the states though. I think you are confused about how Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infinity work. Those companies created their respective luxury lines solely to be sold in America because that's how Americans like it. America didn't make them. LOL, what a silly concept.

rx7speed f you would have read what i posted correctly. I said he put three cars on me. not me putting three cars on him. and it was the turbo model because i looked at it before we raced and seen the turbo. and i have also rode in the car and i have heard it spool up when he got on it. last i new the gsx's had turbos. but i could be wrong. next time you start contradicting what people say make sure you read what they say not assume what they are saying.

If the car was out of tune how did it put 3 cars on you in the first place? Sounds like he stopped trying until you caught up again.

THanks for the replies, the reason i ask this, is because i just bought a GSX for the winter, my mustang and camaro are being put up for the snow. Please dont hate me for buying this and owning a mustang LOL
The GSX does launch really well now that i drive it a bit, has TONS of turbo lag, but when it kicks in its pretty strong for a 4 popper. Im gonna put a timing belt autotensioner and all that fun stuff in it before i drive it much. This car already had 1 engine put in it, put in 7K ago. Other than that its all stock, prolly gonna get exhaust (no **** crap) and boost controller maybe. Dunno yet

how in the WORLD do you have turbo LAG...the 14-B is like a peanut, only smaller by the T-25 which came in the 2nd gen eclipses....also i have the T-25, im getting boost around 3k...i just launch and let it slip and i dont feel lag???? but anyways also the DSM thing....3000gt/stealth werent DSMs....and after 94...Diamond star was not really affiliated with the 95 through present eclipses...they may have carried the motors through 99, but they were true DSMS

What defines a DSM or what does it stand for. I never heard of the 3000GT/Stealth referred to as a DSM. If it has to do with the Chrysler/Mitsu productions or AWD then they could be considered DSMs.

Yeah i go to apple valley. I went to School down the road at East Knox.
As far as the lag, i havnt paid attention if i launch hard, it might not be bad. But if i just mash it in 1st, it doesnt really make powert to 3200 or so. No biggy though I wonder what upgrades to get for it

"That's exactly what it means. It stands for Diamond Star Motors."
Well then I would say that 3000GT/Stealths are DSMs.
By the way Stu, I was wondering why you decided to buy your Acura. Did you want a reliable car with good gas mileage or did you know you were going to mod it when you bought it?

I picked the car up for like $1,005 or something. I specifically bought it so I could make it fast. My last car I did a bunch of suspension stuff on it, and it was pretty fun, and towards the end of owning that car, I started to learn about real motor mods (no more crappy bolt ons). Like most people who don't know about FI, I was afraid of it, so I never looked into it. When I got this car though, I basically said, screw suspension and making it look nice and all that crap, I want to go fast, so that's what I did. It took me around a year and a half to save up for all the stuff and slowly piece the car together. I was pretty proud of it.
