Beat another crotch rocket
Was crusing around tonight looking for something to do and a blue and white crotch rocket passes me in the right lane. I figure he's game for a good race so I pass him and give him a little rev to let him know what I want. We both took off at the same time and I slowly pull away and shut it down near 100. When I stop for the red light he pulls up beside me in the same lane, opens his visor and yells, "what you got in that thing, that's the first car that has ever kept up with me." I felt like saying I didn't keep up, I beat you, lol, but I said thanks and said it's quick. I took off normal at the light, seeing if he wanted to play again, and he did. He got the jump this time and started to pull slightly until he shifted where I started to pull on him again. At the next light I tried to ask him what kind of bike it was exactly, but he took off before we had enough time to chat. From the looks of it, it was a late 90's Yamaha. This is the second bike I've beat since the heads/cam swap on the LS1, and it was just as fun!

wow, a car beating a bike, I guess your power/weight ratio is more efficient than his, i bet he didn't see that coming. How fast do you think your car is(1/4 times). You have an LS1 right?

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a raping, but a slow walk. Awesome runs none the less. I have trapped over 120 mph before if that says anything. I was cracking up the entire time after the guy said I was the first car that had ever kept up with him before. He thought he was gonna make a joke out of me, but I was the one smiling in the end.

My guess was it was a 600cc bike or something close to that. Anything bigger would walk you IMO. Nice kill tho nonetheless, congrats. Sounds like you got a hell of a car. Bikes are quick but I hear that they hit aerodynamic wall at over 110mph or so. But still they can top out at over 160mph.

i have to disagree orr it was at least a 900 or bigger. a 1000cc bike is slower off the line than say a 600 because of the weight the 1000cc will rule all past 100 110 as then the power just overcomes its weight diffrence of a 600

I dont know man, all the 1000r's and such are fast as hell. Of the line they are close to 600's cuz they got more power to make up for wieght but not much more power. But still, most newer bikes run 10's easy and 25thrss aint there yet. LOL later 90's bikes are bit slower than todays beasts.

let me offer some insight, my bike runs a 10 sec 1/4 @ 140
900cc
1.7 jet kit, header, mid pipe, D&D exaust, K&N, 520 race chain, drop tooth sprocket up front
I've had my bike to 200 mph (speedo) corrected its about 178. aerodynamics are fine

I haven't ever shown it here and I probably won't either. If you can find someone in the Richmond, VA area that wants to cruise they can verify it for you I guess. If you don't believe it that's fine, no hard feelings. I think Nic has seen it before. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera and take some footage.

thanks dude! I will search for ya. LOL
You can try to email it to me and i will email it to another webmaster of another message board, they will put it in there video section. They i can post a link to that site and show the video.
What kind of video is it? Drag racing, just messing around,or some video of the car?

Anyway, any car that beats a crotch rocket is cool in my book!

Crotch Rockets are FAST... Depending on which one and who is riding... Most of the newer bikes with more than 750cc displacement are capable of high 10's provided the rider can make it happen. Some 600cc bikes will also get low 11's with the right person on board... Not too mention that most of these bikes get modded and thus produce even lower numbers... Just a full exhaust and a jet kit (or reprogram for the efi bikes) will drop a few tenths off in the 1/4. But, once again, only if the person hanging on knows what they are doing.
Any car that hangs with one of these bikes is pretty impresive!
Just my 2 cents...
