Why do those people love their cars that much. Even come of uncle bens finest will say theirs cars are junk or slow. However, no WV owner will say anything bad about their car. His car has 1.8 L. There are motorcylces that have bigger motors. He is an idiot. Just take him for a ride in your L98.

Yea..

The only thing that bothers me is we prolly
going on the freeway .. One thread stated that
TPI sucks from a roll .. but I havent had much trouble
top-end .. she seems to breathe rather well.

I hate when ppl have to much pride ..
but then again, Me and my Trans AM
wear our

"***** on our sleeve"

and im sure that goes for every other Fbody owner
in the forums..

Id hate to lose ..really do

It would just make me throw on a ATI P-1SC

A good friend of mine has a 2000 Jetta with the 1.8T. He's done a fair bit to it, and it is pretty quick. He traps at 116mph in the 1/4, but his times usually aren't that good because the car does not hook up very well.

Another guy I know with has a Golf with a 1.8T, but only has a few mods (exhaust, ECM upgrades) and it runs low 14s/high 13s.

If you do race him, try and do it from a stop. If its from a roll, and he is smart, he can keep his rpms high enough so there won't be any turbo lag once he hits it. They are much harder to get going from a stop and spin pretty bad.

Thanks for the advice ..

but this guy is not a sucker .. he knows it takes
time to make power with his turbo from a start ..

Well prolly do both .. ill waste him all over the street.
but im not just gunna let him mash on me top-end. all give it
my all ..

in a couple months ill be in the market for a supercharger,
afterthat .. its all over, there will be no need to ask these
questions

Those turbos on the VWs are small. The K03 sport turbo is transversely mounted as well and flows around 321 CFM with a top efficiency of 77%. Everytime I am next to one of those cars on the road I can hear the turbo spool up quick. Those turbos remind me of the T25s that show up in the 2g Eclipses. They too flowed around the 300 CFM range. The 14B turbo in the 1g manual cars like mine flowed around 405 CFM. The Golfs 1.8t runs around 15.3 in the quarter mile stock. So unless he did some modding I don't see him beating you.

The last post is correct. While they can be modded cheaply and easily (like every other FI car on the planet) their turbos are small and very limited. If it was really that fast, you'd probably know about it. Is it his first car? Everyone thinks that their first car, or first middly fast car, is fast.

I took one of those 1.8T Golf's for a test drive. They are gutless even when the turbo kicks in. You will have no problems with this guy.

To make a 1.8T effficient you need to upgrade the turbo big time and chip the ecu. A friend on laughatrice.com drives a GTI 1.8T and that car is quick cuz he is running a Stage 3 turbo with boost controler and its chipped. He is running low 13's which is impressive for a golf.

Todays youth totally direspects 1980s+ muscle cars.
They hate on them. My other neighbor .. young black dude,
Drives a SOHC accord (SOOO SLOW) was hating on my car
(the 89 GTA) sayin its slow and out-dated .. knowing in this
guys POS only runs a 16 sec ET!!!

Its seems ive been targeted by local ricers around here,
they all want a piece of the ponch.

My car is not slow, the thing that disgusts me is ...

THEY THINK IT IS .. what is being put into there
brains??!! .. Need for speed: Underground??!!!

Even I knew when I was 13-17 years old what the
real cars were, the ones that were DEEP AND LOUD!!

That and the lack of seat time behind any car that can run at least 14's. Mom and dad both have 4 banger commuter cars so they compair it to that. If mom or dad had even a V6 sedan they would realize their cars are not fast and would leave you alone. If they rode in your L98 I am sure most of them would shut up. Young people tend to think that their first car is always faster than the next guys. Just tell them to bring it to the track and line them up "old fashion style".

What was said above is true. Also, they are used to people changing the outside appearence of the car as well as motor mods. I bet you could just get a hood with a large rear induction cowl, or whatever it's called, and they'd all think you automatically got a supercharger or something.

so true

Todays youth totally direspects 1980s+ muscle cars
they also hate on the classic 1960 and 1970 muscle cars to more or less anything thats not imported.

exp.my 1970 c10 first car i ever had.right around 410hp to the wheels and close ft.lbs.they see it prmier grey tear drop rims with 8 1\2 inch wide road hugger gts (my tire of chose).the stock 350 had 300hp and 380ft.lbs (stock) i put it in the after i had it stroked 1981 . put a 327 in my truck.its my muscle truck but kidds today see it and go .i have been asked y i drive this p.o.s with its new trans and motor all the time.i just reply no reason and leave a big *** cloud of white smoke behind me and most of the time them.theres just no love for them any more kidds would rather have 115hp all riced out then a cherry 69 ss camaro pushing 300 hp from the factory with a small block or 380hp with a big block.

Yeah you got a point man. People all think that the old muscle cars are slow. I am the only one in my group who drives a muscle car...well except for my friend with the Stang. Him and I re the only 2 who apreciate the raw V8 power. Everyone else in the group drive Econo 4 bangers. Everything from Toyota Corrolas to honda civics...even some VW people in that crew. Its kinda weird cuz no one knows anything about my car. They look at it and say "it looks nice but its 16 years old so its slow". I will let them believe that. Sure its an l03 but it will desimate any of their stock 4 bangers.

See, I've gone the other way. I used to think that anything that was old and looked good, must be fast. But now, I go to the track and am surrounded by car with big hoods and full slicks running anywhere from 14.5's to 16.0's. Although, I must say, that before I spent the money to make my car quick, all of those cars would still have wasted me.

Reminds of the time my sister had some friends over one night. The one kid had a 98 civic, alittle r iced out. He saw my car in the garage and started asking me about it.

Him Is it fast?

Me Not really fast, but quick.

Him My civic is pretty quick too.

He said he did a few mods aka CAI and exhaust. The car was clean, not half as bad looking as most in my area.

Well I offered him a ride in the L98 just to show him what it was like.

He was telling me about a S2000 he plans on getting and his car.
I left my housing plan and up the road WOT I went. HE Immediately grabbed hold of the door and seat and shut up. I hit 70mph and let off. He was quiet for a bit and I was like "See it Aint that fast but quick" He was impressed and was like nah man, this thing moves!!

I just smiled. They definately need to drive/ride in a decently fast car. it will change them. I can imagine living in a 15-17 second world and thinking I am fast.

I found that is the total opposite with the other generation about their memories of muscle cars. They never like to hear that my LS1 TA stock will totally destroy most old muscle cars in the straight.

Also, when the hell did the Mustang become a muscle car?!?! Its a Pony Car, not a muscle car, same with a Firebird and Camaro. Muscle car = family sedan w/ big motor, ala GTO. Pony car = smaller car that can normally handle, but can have a big motor.

Excuse me, I used the term "Muscle"

I just used that because compared to
Hondas and VWs .. were pretty big.

I agree though .."pony" is the correct term
for F-bodies and Fox bodies

haha i was talking to a guy today... Hes one of the biggest honda freaks out there! He was telling me he owns a Crx, Civics, Accord one with a V6 and a Pilot. And he was tellin me how all his Hondas includin his Pilot would smoke any Muscle car I was like" yeah okay..." Just rape them Ricers! Atleast 90 percent of them cant even hit the mid 15s there all show no go. Too many **** around my area, White Rich Punks. Think they can take a 350 with a fart can and stickers lol Ricers = BORING

Also Orr, did you tell them how you and I wanted Civics and Preludes b4 we bought our 350s. Yes, i wanted a civic when i was 14 and told my dad to sell the camaro. (hahahaha i was 13 or 14 and this was when the Fast And THe Furious Came out) Hey atleast a Civic is faster then a Prelude ORR:

LOL yeah, go eat some **** man! When I was about 15 or 16 TFATF first came out, I went nd saw it numerous itmes in the theatre, and when I went to school, EVERYONE was talking about the Civics, Eclipses, Supras, etc and all me and my best friend talked about was the Charger and the Chevelle (VERY end). Everyone said that Charger was slow and sucked because the Supra beat it......I laughed and was like, he had to hit his Nitrous TWO times to beat a that Charger man.....Anyways, long story short, people started getting little hondas and Toyotas and stuff.....I had a Ranger at the time and when I pulled up in my 85 Camaro, I got told I was slow but after a race or two, I showed them that theres no replacement for displacement.....1.8 or 5.0? Hmmmm, hard one lol. I admit There have been one or two Imports Ive been impressed with only because the cars look really nice and clean and the driver knows what he's talking about and built it himself.

Basic thing is TFATF and Need for Speed: Underground has corrupted America big time.....My little 92 Rs w/LO3 has a cowl hood and I cant get a race...I take my modded 82 t-top out that is bone sotck looking minus the SS Cragers and I get little Ricers traying to race me all night long....pretty funny lol, then I get wins under my belt lol.

If he has any mods, the car will be pretty quick. They come from the factory with only 5 psi, but the wastegates are controlled electronically. A $400 chip alone will have that car putting over 180 hp to the wheels. Combine that with an exhaust upgrade and you're looking at a low 14/high 13 second car.

Wow, you have opened my eyes! The Corvette is a muscle car, not a sports car, sheesh, what was I ever thinking! And the Shelby Cobra and the Ford GT 40, all muscle cars! I'll be telling those new Pontiac Soltice drivers they have a "new age" muscle car!

Sorry, that is a horrible deffinition for "muscle car".

This is kind of off-topic, but I went to that laughatrice.com site, and I'm still laughing at this thread:

I'm not sure if the guy with his Toyota Paseo thinks it's fast, or what; but it's hilarious.

80's camaros in my opinion are a Pro Touring muscle car. Mustangs try to be this but usually are not good handling like camaros.

Nick, a prelude would destroy a civic. LOL

Well, 1981z28 isn't exactly and expert on american muscle
Just do a search and read the most recent threads with him in it.

exp.my 1970 c10 first car i ever had.right around 410hp to the wheels and close ft.lbs.they see it prmier grey tear drop rims with 8 1\2 inch wide road hugger gts (my tire of chose).the stock 350 had 300hp and 380ft.lbs (stock) i put it in the after i had it stroked 1981 . put a 327 in my truck.its my muscle truck but kidds today see it and go .i have been asked y i drive this p.o.s with its new trans and motor all the time.i just reply no reason and leave a big *** cloud of white smoke behind me and most of the time them.theres just no love for them any more kidds would rather have 115hp all riced out then a cherry 69 ss camaro pushing 300 hp from the factory with a small block or 380hp with a big block.
Keep this in mind as you read those other threads.

Your GTA will tear that VW apart. I ran one in my L98 from roll. I forgot all about that. I believe it was a 1.8T or maybe VR6. it was late at night. he flew up to me along my side, looked over and recognized what it was, and didnt want none of me. I toyed with him and he finally went. It was like 45mph when I punched it with my L98 and 2.77 gears. I pullled him good.

3.73 will move quicker but you will top out at a slower mph.

TPI doesnt like over 4500rpm so 3.42 is good gear. 373 is fine from dig and you will excellerate like mad. dont know for sure cuz i dont have them. I want them tho.

Ah, the legendary stock 4 valve SBC/BBC's. Best kept secret in the industry! Ah, I guess you mean 4bbl (but you didn't know that).

BTW, I've ridden in a 1.8T jetta, they are zippy and fun on the street but my vote also goes with the L98, even from a roll.

If there isn't a Mustang in town that can touch, the last car you should worry about is a Jetta, unless you are in Europe and it's a shop car, but you aren't, and it isn't. Have fun killing him. Make him mow your lawn afterwards.

Well, Im glad the L98 has the majority of the votes here.

I just mentioned the subject .. cuz I dont know much about
VW and other foreigns (Stu)

Personally I want just goose on him, and never say anything
to him again .. he'll know not to mess with a Z28 or T/A.

On the othernote, I was almost killed yesterday!!

Im in AZ, but I was comming up Country Club Dr.
and a 93 Maxima was tryin to get me .. I see him gainin' hard
in the rear view .. So, I dart off and he gets smaller and
smaller, not having a chance to even intiate a race!!! .. LOL

So, A big grin .. knowin' my car can hop from 45mph to
80-90mph rather quikly and he didnt stand a chance.

But I didnt see a Big Mobil Gas truck making a turn from
the on commin direction turning in front of me ..

HE DID NOT JUST HAVE ONE TANK ... BUT TWO ..

I try stopping from a 80 mph cruise on slick concrete..
tires lock, I downshift numerous time .. just tryin' too
slow down .. as we approach ..we are jus about to
make contact with the *** end of the 2nd mobil gas tank
at approx. of 65 mph .. WE hit .. and I start pullng
hard to the left into oncomming traffic ... the Fbody
finally compensates and start going the other way unto
the far right curb .. (Like a zig-zag) I finally get her under
under contol and we even out ... I dont even bother to
stick around to talk to the gas truck .. I was lucky to
be alive ...

And heres the KICKER!! ....

If i were to intiate A race with that Maxima at that
time, and he prolly woulda came up on my right ...

we woulda went faster and he woulda got
decapitated by going right under that gas truck ...

NO lie ... the Maxima saw the whole thing, me
zigzaggin' tryin to recover..

When i dashed off .. he caught up with me in a local
Dairy Queen .. and he got out and looked at me in Envy ....

he simply said "How the f*ck did you manage to
not hit that truck in this car"

I simply started the car up and smiled ..

Punch the gas once in Neutral and drove off

Minor Damage to passenger side fender and wheel
(I have replacments)

If you think you feel strong about your car ..

HAVE A CAR SAVE YOUR LIFE and then talk to me
