92 Rs vs. s10

This was definately a race to remember and I havent been this scared in a while. Last night, when me and like 4-5 other guys went on lunch, my best friend Terry told me he wanted to race me on this 1/4 mile stretch. Now, I was kinda leary on this totally, cause he had just finally gotten his V8 s10 back. Its a really clean truck and I know how powerful it is. It is a mid 70's 305, bored .030 over, aggressive cam, ported/polished non-smogger heads (not sure of their casting), Torker 2 intake (for now, trying it out), 2 1/2 in. dual exhaust into cherry bombs, built 700R4, and 295/60/R15's mounted on Weld DragLite's in the back. Anyways, I agree, knowing Ill have my *** handed to me, because he raced this early 90's Stang GT and even though he couldnt grab traction in the bginning, he pulled hard and took it by a little less than a car.

So, anyways, my buddy Greg agrees to flag us down while Rob goes down to the end to watch out for cops. So, we get lined up and Im in the suicide lane. Greg gets out, gets us lined up and drops the arms. We both punch it and begin eating tires like crazy. I cant grab anything and it felt like we were just sitting there. Finally I grab and slam it into second fast cause I am redlining and start pulling and when I get a car on him hes staying with me. At about the end, I've only got him by like half a car, cause his front tire is on my door and then he lets out and lets me in front of him. We get back to work and I asked how the hell I just pulled that off. He told me he was eating his tires all through first, second, and finally grabbed a little ways into 3rd. I couldnt believe that but Greg vouched for it, saying at first he though we were just sitting there but the whole time I had a car on him, Terry was spinning tires but moving fast enough to be on my tail.

Anyways, Terry says we are gonna take it to the track Friday, which will pretty much take care of his traction problem. He wants me to take my RS but I dont think I am. Im finishing the 82 T-top up tommorrow, gonna break the cam in and change my rear fluids, and I think Im going to take it to the track tommorrow night to take on his S10, so at least I have a decent chance .

the s-10s around here can get pretty quick.if you would throw a decent motor into one, itll go pretty good. they had a s-10 day at the track once, most were in the 12s

Yeah they did that on TRUCKS

My brother has an s10 that he blew the motor on so at first he wanted to swap in the 2.8 out of my wrecked 89 and then he wanted to put in a V8 but now he wants to fix the inline 4 and im sure all of you wanted to know this

but that would be a seriously fun thing to drive an s10 with a 350 and(his is a 4 speed manual) a 6 speed

There is a local guy around here with a Vette engine in his S-10, I saw it with my own eyes. I heard it was a ZO6 motor, but when I talked to someone at my local track, he said it for sure wasn't a ZO6 motor (after I told him that, he started looking at me like I was some *****, damn rumors ) but probably one out of a C4 Vette. Isn't that the L98?

well it could be a L98 , the C4 Vettes had them from 85-91. And 92-96 they had the 300hp LT1. I heard also they had Lt4. And 1984 (first yr of C4) they had the Cross Fire Injection

OK, just to update, last friday the track flooded out so we didnt get to race....but this Friday he wants revenge against me.....I am kinda scared, cause he let me take it out for a spin the other day first time since he got it back....It makes my Camaros feel like Lawnmowers. I MANUALLY Shifted this ting and when I hit second, its like i hit Nitrous or something, I swear it threw me back in my seat.....He says he's more of a racer than me but I took that truck out and made it hook off the line easily on the street, so its all in the driver I guess.....So yeah now Im gettin scared....it may be a little 305 but i am getting the feeling it will smoke me big time.......Hes gonna race it a few times but he's promised me a run or 2 in it since I let him have his first and only track experience in my Camaros.....So whatever he hits, Ill hit lower. Im wondering If maybe I should go buy a Nitrous kit lol For real, Ill give the update once I get back in from the track tommorrow.....I've told him to expect high to mid 9's out of that truck considering Im running 10.2's....What do you peopel think? Heres the mods:

87 S-10, 1977 305 bored .030 over, aftermarket cam, ported and polished heads (supposedly), Torker 2 intake, 650 cfm Performer Carb, LG4-style manifolds (Pre-emissions tubes style) into 2 1/2 in. true dual exhaust with GlassPacks, 2.8 Rear End, Futura Super Sport Tires mounted on 15 in. Weld DragLites
295/60/R15's (Rear)
245/50/R15's (Front)

Oh yeah and no PS, PB, AC, A.I.R, PW, PL, plain jane, no options S10.

What do you predict it will run with a decent driver (me )???

BTW, its an 1/8th mile Track.
