Got a race set up for when I get my engine finished
My manager at work has a friend in NC that has a 2001 Ferrari 360 Modena. I told him I wanted to race him when I get my engine finished. Anybody got any comments on this race.
I have a 1986 Iroc, my mods are as follows:
.040 350 4 bolt main LT1 block (357)
Speed Pro Hypereutectic Pistons with moly coated skirts
Reconditioned rods and stock crank
Pete Jackson geardrive
Comp Cams Xtreme Energy HR 224/230 .503/.510
Ported, Polished, 3 angle valve job iron heads 64cc
10.3:1 compression
Ported TPI
52mm TB
Hedman LT from ACS
Custom 3" dual exhaust with x-pipe and dynomax race magnums
700r4 with Transgo shift kit
Miscellaneous mods around 3200 lbs
I think thats about it, what chances does everybody think I have.
Remember the 360 modena has the 395 hp V8 and it weighs in at a hair over 3000 lbs.

I don't think they are quite that fast, on supercars.net they list it as 1/4 mile at 13 seconds, 0-100 in 10.3, and 0-60 in 4.3 .

Either car and driver or road and track has that car list as 12.2 in the 1/4 and youll be lucky to hit high 12's with just a ported stock TPI setup,so i wouldnt put any money on that race.

500 hp?!?!? Did I gloss over a supercharger or nitrous when I read that build list? You're gonna have a solid low 13's car, but the ferrari will have no trouble doing mid 12's all day (given a competant non ferrari owner driver). Should be a fun race, but don't put your life savings on it.

I don't know about a solid low 13 1/4 car. but, I could see a low 13 if he hooked real good . getting in to 12's is a little harder than a cam and cleaned up stock heads. (.040 does nothing for your power) I could see that combo making 300-350 hp in very good tune. I'm not trying to rip on your combo but, I see a lot of very sad guys with similar setups.

i got 450hp and 500ft.lbs out of my set up
is that on an actual dyno? or calculated by ET or desktop dyno. your running a lot of cam on production heads, you might make the HP but that 450lb lbs is going to way up in the rev range.

I think your gonna need great traction and 50 more horses. 400 should do the ferrari in, but only with traction. He's got 395 and 200lbs or so less than you. You may need 450 or more to reliably get him from all situations like dig, roll, etc. Those things arent ment for drag racing, so hooking up will be alittle tougher. I say add a superram/miniram/stealth ram, good tune and hope for the best.

I'm pretty sure I will be able to get him off the line if I can get traction. He only has 275 ft/lbs of torque at 4750 rpm. My engine I know will make way more than that, and at a lower rpm. If he wins I'll just throw a nitrous kit on there and go for a second race. Either way it'll be a fun race. All we have around here is 1/8 mile tracks and I think I could take him in the 1/8.

these are the dyno numbers 450 500 just sounds better.

I'm expecting him to be the usual rich guy that expects that just because he went out and bought a fast car that he can beat everybody. I know I know how to drive but we will just have to wait and see about him.

I'll be very blunt - those heads are boat anchors - get a good set of aluminum heads and go with that.....

And my heads are highly modded as well, 364434, cut for screw-in studs and quide plates and 1.43 springs, stainless 2.02 1.60 valves, fully ported intake and exhaust ports and pocket ported in the bowls, triple angle valve job, and cut for 64 cc chambers. Are they the best performance head available, no. Are the worth the money I paid for them, I think so. I plan on getting a set of AFR heads when I can get the money and I will have them cut for 58 cc chambers to bump my compression up. I just wanted to get my engine together and running good and all the valvetrain hardware will switch over to the new heads when I get them so I am just concerned with the performace I will have with this engine as it stands now.

cool, no problem for the ride, I appreciate the invite. You don't happen to know Chris Barnes do you. If you do as him about the Purple Camaro at Papa Johns. My name is David, he will know who you are talking about. I hope to get it finished in the next month or so and then a little body work to get done hopefully when i get my taxes back. I don't go to Westgate Mall much, long story, kinda banned from there for the past 6 years, banned for life. LOL Anyway hope to see you around sometime.

hp = trq*(rpm/5252)
456hp = trq*(3500/5252)
trq = 684 ft-lbs @3500 rpm

318 dur. hydraulic cam.
Performer RPM intake 750 cfm Holley 3310.
882 heads w/ 2.02 +1.60 valves.
450 hp is a little hard to swallow with 882 heads.

well
give me sometime to find it. is was two years ago that i dynoed it.
350hp is only 50 more hp then the motor i used had stock the 383 stroker kit alone is good for 450hp.
your dads motor does not have his heads ported or polished o and there not a full roller rocker set up.
a eagle crank steel
h-beam push rods
9.2.1
it puts out those numbers if u dont beleve then tuff i dont really care.

what
the hell i could have just done the stroker kit and had 450hp. but i also have a lot of other modds. its not only possible that i have 456hp and 494ft.lbs its the truth. the only reason u think that its bull is because u got the cheapest stroker kit out there and u only make 350hp and u think all 383 are like the one u have. im sure u have the cast iron crank and the 9.2.1s that came with ur cheap *** kit. dont hate because i got the good kit.
#49
no
383 stroker. 292 cam (they weight less takes less power to move and can move faster)
882 close chamber heads with 202. full roller rockers)
headers flat top pistons , molly rings
350 turbo trans with trick shift kit h pipe with flowmasters 750 cfm carb perf rpm intake andmore i dont feel like listing .
the factory hp was 300 and the factory ft.lbs 380. its not hard to get more when thats what u start with i did not start with 230hp and 330ft.lbs
168 TOOTH FLEX PLATE
8" HARMONIC DAMPER
FORGED FLAT TOP PISTONS 11:1
PLASMA MOLY FILE TO FIT RING SET
FORGED H-BEAM RODS
my friend has a motor like my own but he got his built for him 435hp and 465ft.lbs iron instead of steel and iron instead of aluminum thats without headers or anything

I thought you were making 456hp (now I'm not so sure), but I didn't think it was at 3500... And you shouldn't be comparing your 383 to a factory motor. It's essentially a built engine, not a bolt on engine, so you shouldn't use that logic to prove its power level. Stroking your engine does not add as much power as you think. Adding 33 cubes will not give you 100 hp; because in order to do so you would have had to have been making 3.3 hp/cubic inch in the first place, which you were not(you were in fact making less than 1hp/cube). So unless I see a dynograph I'm gonna have to raise her up and salute:
