Dirty Cheating RX7

Well, me and my cousin (He has a bone stock 00 Trans am non-ws6) were cruis'in Laredo the other day and came across an older model z28 (Had two tone ground effects) and we were going by the mall and the z28 let it rip and my cousin gunned the car and it was over pretty fast, We pulled about 2 car lengths and let off at about 85. I gave the guy a wave and he gave it back and he turned off (Good sport).

Later on we headed towards the main strip here and its about 3:00am and we come across some guy in his RX7 (Was a very new model, im not into imports, my cousin was the one who told me what it was can't tell the year but was definatley a 2000+) and his chick in the car so my cousin drives up next to him and asks him if he wants to run it the guy says sure and tells us to get ahead of him.

We both look at each other puzzled and figured he wants to wait for the light coming up so we got in front of him thinking he was going to switch lanes and notice he is going a bit farther back and im talking with my cousin saying what the hell is this guy doin so were just cruisin and the light is 2 blocks away and still green and were like, ok wtf is this guy doing now, right when I said that he zooms by and says "Gooooooo" and were both like WTF!? So my cousin guns it and it was too late.

The guy gets pretty far ahead of us because we let off pretty quick, then he pulls into a gas station. I have no idea what these damn import guys do but I have a feeling he was back there just building up his boost and being a retard. We had no idea he wanted to go from a roll.

well..there is no such thing as a 2000+ rx7..they stopped making them in 1997 i believe..if it was anything 2000+ you just had a run in with the new rx8.. im not sure about those things yet, but i know they are pretty peppy..

RX-8's are also N/A, so no turbo to build boost with. Unless they already made a Turbo kit for it.

Besides, a 00 WS6 TA should whomp on a RX8 no problem. Then again, if they fly by you and say "GOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo............." then you really kinda have to dismiss them.

Just called my cousin, he said it was a late model rx7 and yea he told me thier discontinued. He pulled out of a speed shop so who knows. I seriously doubt he could take us if we had started at the same time, roll or stop. The z28 was fun though, was a older guy and he kept up for a bit and he got put back after we hit about 50.

if its the late model rx7 then if it has a turbo then the trans am doesnt stand a chance...when i had my shop i tuned soo many of those cars and the only thing that could touch them was the supras well..and heavily modded ls1s and vettes.. but they are nothing to laugh at man..you can turn the boost up...so much on those rotarys and not worry about hurting the internals...

They're low 14 second cars stock. They will need a good handful of mods to hang with a stock LS1. Ask me how I know...

Lets not turn this into another RX-7 pissing match

pasky - so what the hell was it? 93-95 RX-7, 2003+ RX-8, Supra, what?

Already told ya, my cousin said it was either a 96 or 97 Rx7. I seriously doubt that fool could have taken us if he hadn't done his stupid driveby.

No such thing. At least not in North America. Thats why I asked 93-95 above... 95 was the last year for the RX-7 here, and the 94-95 cars aren't as common as the 93s.

here is how it breaks down stock for stock

straight line
ls1

from a low speed roll
ls1

from a hwy roll
not sure

turns
rx7

stock rx7 for the most part is a low 14 second car
some are able to get a high 13
but most are low 14's
ls1 well generally are mid to low 13 second cars

as far as mods go
to hang with a stock ls1 it takes a bit of mods but most of them are just getting rid of the factory mazda shiz so the car is a little more reliable. but not that hard to get them to run well

this is a thirdgen rx7 from 93 (body style same from (93-95
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=6327

this is a 1997 supra (same body from 92-98 I think)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=6447

and here is the mighy bugs bunny rx8
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=6316
look like any of those

I agree though that was a cheap tactic
maybe he was just having some fun or knew he wouldn't win

Yep, it was a rx7 for sure, rx8 looks nothing like that, I really cant tell you the year but it looked well taken care of so I guess that is what made me think it was a new model. I still dont think he could have taken us if he hadnt been back there gaining speed or playing with his ding dong or whatever the hell he was doin.

unless he had some decent mods I agree with you

though there are some crazy ones out there have to least admit to that

saw a vid some time ago where the guy using the stock twins and stock ports with bolt ons and such to support more air flow and fuel running high 11's

not very often will you see that though cause many don't like the stock tiwns for lots of power....
