Me vs modded LS1
Curious who you guys think will win. Race will likely happen friday night if my friend gets the car.
My Car:
350HO crate motor, headwork, 10:1 compression, XE274 camshaft, hughes 3000 stall, th350, 3.73's
His car:
98 LS1: headwork, lid, injectors, headers, exhaust, m6
Curious who you guys think will win. We will be racing from a stop and from a roll.

i think he would win just because he has more things than you. a 350 ho is only 330 stock but with the cam and depending on your head work maybe 350 tops. since he has 325 starting and has headwork lid and exhaust done i think he has you beat is he a 6 or an auto if its a 6 and he can drive he has bus lengths. i think either way you lose

I think it'll be close, but if he has a descent cam and the car is in tune he will get you assuming he can drive it.
EDIT: from a roll you are definitely toast, but from a stop you may be able to hang assuming the above.

I agree with 25th, the LS1s are killer up top. My friends 2000 was running 110 traps with and exhaust and lid (he might have had 4.11s). I think if you hook to 12.4s @ 110 on street tires race from a stop, not from a roll.

It depeneds what kind of "headwork" this car has. I just don't see any reason why anyone would put new injectors in a pretty stock car, even with "head work". I'm thinking the head work means stock heads.
Basically, if someone bothered to mess with the heads, it more than likely has a cam, has been tuned, etc... It should run 11's with heads/cam. He'll get you up top no matter what, heads or not.
I went almost 112 with just a lid, catback, and drag radials. They are super easy to get power out of.

you'll win because he won't have any seat time in the car.
its hard to buy a car one day, and then cut an awsome 1/4 in it the next day without any previous racing experence in the car.

I think you got him from a stop...but from a rolll.. I think your going down. What you need to do is put a 50 shot on there, and after you hook up, spray it.

That should be an awesome race, any chance of getting it on video (in car prefferably)???
What does your "headwork" consist of, any porting or just spring work to support the 274 cam? I'm pegging you at 425hp MAX with some porting, 400ish if not, if he indeed has ported heads and a hot cam with longtubes and such I think he will have the power advantage by a bit. But then your car sounds more heavily setup for a 1/4 run, and he will have some driving issues too even if he is a good stick driver IMO. Will sure be interesting to see who wins...

Going to be a good one. Depending on his launch and shifting abilities, he should have you. But if he can't do that, you might end up on top.
LS1's are strange beasts. We have completely stock engines around here but every bolt on you can think of running 11.5-11.8. They are very impressive to say the least!

Well the race isnt gonna happen . He is 19 and found out insurance will be $408 a month due to previous tickets
I really wanted this race to happen. I have driven a stock down to the paper air filter 98 B4C LS1 A4 with 2.73's. It felt good from about 4700 on up, but didnt have a lot of low end torque. I have driven numerically low geared cars with good torque (my car before I switched to 3.73's) and it didnt feel like my car used to in the torque department, pretty weak. Even from a roll it didnt feel like it had a lot down low. I took the kid for a ride in my car right afterward and he was really impressed, wanted to know how he could make his car (98 B4C) feel like mine, so it was more than just opinion.
I think I would have put 4 or 5 car lengths on him by the 330 foot due to new driver error and me making more torque and being better in the my power band the way the car is setup, and then he would have had to try to reel me back in if the car had even been modded properly. My car traps a hair over 110 and is in good tune, my thinking was I would have him based on what I gained down low.
I need to find another LS1 around town to race .
