Anyone know the 1/4 time for a VW GTI VR6 ?
Hoping to bust out a can of TPI whoop a$$ on a '98 VW GTI VR6, that a coworker owns. It has a chip and that's it.
Anyone know what they run in the 1/4 mile so I can get an idea of a margin of victory? All I know is they have a factory 172hp and about the same torque.
Thanks!

You'll take him, just because they have no traction. They're solid high 14's with 92-94mph trap speeds. My buddy swapped in a VR6 to his 91 ex. 2.0 which is much lighter than the new GTI's and it runs 14.3@98

im living in switzerland europe,so i know these cars very well.from a stop youre going to kill him, rolling start would be close and the higher the speed the better he will do.run him 0-60 and you will kill him hands down.

the older gti's are i believe like 16+ second cars. They have 174hp in '99, the 2002's and up v6's have 200hp and could run quick if properly driven, but youll spank him, especially off the line

so if that 01 runs a mid 15, the 16 less hp version is a high 15 low 16 car, youll waste him from a start, i didnt look at your mods till now, you should be capapble of getting in the 13's on a good day

i don't think they are as bad as 16's. i was thinking low to mid 15's or so with a "chip", some exhaust and high 14's i'd bet.
i have a pretty good idea now how much of an advantage i have.
a little more practice and getting rid of that stock air canister and i think i'll be kissing a 13.9 early next racing season.
funny i have all the other intake work done, yet haven't done that yet.
