Like the subject says: Has anyone raced a 383 LT1, or know anything about 'em?

I know they can make some serious power, especially with good heads and cam. But then again, what 383 isn't that way. Do you know any specifics about the engine or is this a "what if" type of question?

This is a buddy of mine. He got rid of the 150 shot. It's now a 250 wet kit.

Chad's car is nice. Especially after he hit the wall in the rain in Memphis and had it repainted. Beautiful car all the way around. Power, handling, stopping, good looking. What more could you ask for

My friend has a Nu-Tek 383 with an LT4 hotcam, and heads. He went 12.3 @ 111 on DRs with a weak converter. He wants to go 11s when he changes the cam, headers and converter, and then spray a 150 shot into the 10s.

Just a littler steeper converter and a little more cam and he will be in the high 11's. The Hotcam is very very mild for a 383 LT1. He should get the CC306, it is the cam that *** has in his car.

GM high tech performace has an LT1 vs LS1 shootout. both motors are full heads and cammed set ups and all of the cars are in the low 11's. Some are 383's, 355's, 396's and stock disp.

we have a guy aroud here in Memphis that has a 1997 30th Anniversary T/A white with a blue stripe and blue anodized 5star rims. Only thing he'll tell anybody is he has is a Lingenfelter built 383 w/350 trans. But we have seen him outrun a Grand National and a BBC camaro trailer car (w/o gas as he claims). It sounds right but thats the only time i have seen him run and i go all the time. My friend works at the local speed shop and sayed he talked to his dad (K&N sales Rep.) and its his dads car. But its nice.

Car: too many ...
Friend of mine down the street picked up a 94 Trans Am with a built 383 LT1 for really really cheap (around $5000). Car works perfect but the previous owner had to sell because of family reasons. He took it to the track and I think the best so far is mid 12's N/A. The motor was build for juice so he just hooked up a 150 shot. But I haven't check with him since then so no new times. Nice sounding motor!

Thats a 1998 LS1 car. Was it the 382 package by chance? If so those things make 550 at the crank with ease.

No I am not from around there but the 30th aniversary Birds were 1998 LS1 models. They were white with blue stripes and had anodized blue WS6 wheels. Sounds like his is a 383 LT1 but is a 1997 with some appearance mods.
