1991 350 z28 (me) against an accord with a h22 swap??

theres this accord around with a prelude h22 engine in it, and i guess he ran like a 9.6 at 72 or 75 (1/8 mile). i guess its pretty quick, hes got an aem cold air intake, honda muff, and i think a dc sport header, i believe he ran it at the track with some softer compound tires too. i got a 1991 camaro 350 (auto) with cold air intake, k&n's, with air foil, edelbrock headers w/ y-pipe, and a little better tires. so what do you think???? everyone in town thinks my car is a dog, cuz its the older camaro body style. well please write back, thanks!!

Dude if he doesnt have nitrous or a turbo or something he hasnt told you about your gonna kill him . Maybe if your car was bone stock hed have a chance. Its pretty ridiculous that he even thinks he can run with you . Good luck , and let us know what happens.

Werent the H22 the Prelude engines? If they are, I think they are like 200 or so HP. I know that in a Civic hatch they are pretty quick, but the hatch is also a hell of a lot lighter than an Accord.

Using a 1/8-1/4 converter a 9.6 is a 15.0 like bub said. I ran a 9.2 with similar mods as you on my 89 L98. Good luck bro.

I have a the same car as you and look at the time in my sig,, and this is bone stock on street tires (this means paper filters and no weight reduction, except the spare tire).... you should have no problems what so ever

You should win given your cars still in good running condition. Just ask him why he switched his slow stock motor for another slow motor and not a B16 or B18.

he traded it for a slow motor and you say that a b16 or b18 would be faster? he should just go with a V8

you would be suprised, im not familiar with the honda crate motors, but one here is running mid 12s with one of those motors, i cant remember which one and his buddy has an acura with some motor work and turbo running mid 11s... The crate motor alone puts them around low 13s..

CRATE motor?

Their highest VTEC (not iVTEC) motor puts out 205 or so stock and thats the H22a. Of course thats an American version, not JDM.

I still have a hard time believing its 100% stock, just in a lighter body and pulling 13's.

You should beat the guy no problem. The h22 is the more powerful engine out of the b16 and b18 which at the most only have 170 hp. The h22 comes anywhere from 195 to 205. I believe the accords with the v6 had 200 hp pre 2002. And those accords were 15 second cars. An accord with an h22 swap has less torque and the same hp. It should run a little slower than the v6 version. Hence, nothing to worry about.
