3rd Gen VS 3rd Gen

My friend just bought an 86 camaro. The guy he bought it off of said it had a 350. Its TBI, headers, true dual exhaust, TH400 Tranny, and a 9" Ford rear with a Detroit Locker and 4.11 gears. So we raced from a stop and he got me off the line but I pulled on him hard and I was about at his door when we finished. I think its really just the stock 305 TBI. Do you think I could have kept up with a 350 with those gears? Car/Mods are in the sig.

no 3rd gen older than 88 came with TBI stock. But unless that 350 is out of a second gen camaro or a truck, that car should've whipped you hardcore.

a ford 9" seems a bit overkill for that setup. i would bet a lot of money that was a racecar at one time, the real motor got pulled out and they stuck a truck motor in it and peddled it.

Its supposedly not the stock motor. I guess he blew up the first motor with nitrous or something and bought a crate motor and put TBI on it? Sounds dumb but you never know.

that'd be a great way to kill power off the engine.

Sounds like what r^icers do. Spray like a 75 shot on a stock engine way too many times and blow something on it.

I remember seeing a crate 350 TBI from Summit or some other catagalog, the engine put out like 300 or so hp. But that was a crate engine. Most likely it was a 350 out of a truck. But if they did that why didnt they go with a carb and get a rebuild kit. Much easier.

I have a plan under way to run my freinds Acclaim down the track on a 150 shot on its maiden voyage of the 1/4, will be its only voyage down the track.
