Raced a Starion (Chrysler Conquest twin)
Raced a Mitsu Starion, which is the twin of the Chrysler Conquest. I was told it had an upgraded turbo and intercooler with stock internals (so no high psi #'s), and I know it had an exhaust. We each had a passenger and his passenger had a video camera. We raced roughly an 1/8 mile and after spinning like crazy off the line, I had him by 12 car lengths before shutting down.
I'll try to get the vid from him later today.

good win!
my friend has a conquest, non intercooled stock everything its fun to beat around, but not that fast yet... i say his is about in the low 16's to high 15's
the one you raced is more than likely in the mid 14's i would think..

Kinda cool little cars, I pulled pretty good on a Conquest with my old modded 305 TPI IROC.

my best friend had an 87 conquest. the kid that owned it before him took the motor apart and bought all kinds of performance stuff for it, but couldnt put it back together, so my buddy got the whole thing for 500 bucks.
he bought a 16G turbonetics turbo for it, a boost controller and a bunch of other crap.....that thing was crazy fast for about 10 minutes, until the transmission broke the back of the block off lol.
apparently they do that, and there is a girdle to prevent it, but he didnt know about it.

I have a hard time believing that a starion only runs 14s in the 1/8th mile. It should run low 14s in the 1/4. That's a 2.6L SOHC turbo 4 cylinder I believe (possibly the largest 4 cylinder available in it's day). Should weigh about 3000lbs. In best trim should have a 5 speed and IRS. Should pump out about 220 horses stock. I think you're yanking us a little or that kid can't drive

no you just misunderstood what he was saying. No one ever said they run 14's in the 1/8, they were talking about in the 1/4. The only time 1/8 mile came up was when he said that was all that he raced him.

No luck on getting the video from him, I think it got "accidently" erased.

The 87-89 Mitsubishi Starion ESi-R and Chrysler Conquest TSi had 188hp and 234tq. Stock versions run high 14's, low 15's depending on driver and condition/tune. They had a FMIC and IRS. There's kits for dropping DSM 2.0 4G63's into them, as the stock 2.6 doesn't have the same performance potential.

that kind of torque in a car that light is a recipe for speed

Just IM'ed a friend of the guy. He's says that Starion ran 14.0 last yr in the 1/4 and has since done a few little mods, probably has 13's in it now.
