Ya, the race was pretty sweet, enough to make me pop a woody. The whole illegal street race with two super cars is freakin' awesome. I just wish one of the two cars was mine.

But like I said earlier I got to drive the ZR1 and well , needless to say it was fun.

I think the TTA is my favorite looking of the 3 cars, and I didn't think it had all the potential with higher boost that it does. So I guess if these guys start modding the TTA wins by a lot, but still doesn't corner like the vettes, I love lateral G's .

I think real drag racing is about 5 times better to watch than illegal "organized" racing.

I think it is more exciting the other way around as long as there are no people around. I don't really approve of it myself. I do however prefer to do any kind of racing on a legal drag strip for saftey reasons, plus there is usually a crowd there to cheer you on when you when or laugh at you when you get beat.

i have to say the ZR-1 would be a bit faster then the zo6 i know that the zo6 is more common but ive seen some vids of the ZR-1 and its an ungodly car i only wish to see the both of those go at it, but the TTA doesnt stand a chance unless he starts getting some mods, those vettes have been known to beat italian sports cars, but the best way for you to be the judge, is on whos driving, IF they can drive, and look up the HP and tourque specs for each car then do a lil math :hail:

What we mean by the 3.8 being a low end motor is that with the small , high velocity runners and small valves on a small bore lends itself better to producing tourqe not horsepower. You are correct in the way you are measuring your power. You want as much performance under the curve as possible with the touqe band producing most of the grunt down low, when you speak of street manners.

These motors are not known for producing horsepower. A guy on www.turbobuick.com had his dyno done recently. He made 416 horsepower and like 608lb/ft. Now you tell me if this isn't the signature of a tourqe motor! I think he ran it up to 5200. The 4.1L in it's stock displacement also made pretty good tourqe, however the one ingredient for making horsepower is a larger cylinder being able to ingest enough airflow to support the rpms your gonna end up with when your hp peak moves up.

I can tell you you'll probably end up with scattered parts if you rev a 3.8 past 6500 rpms. Tight bearing tolerances don't lend itself to well to high rpms the oil gets forced out and you'll seize a bearing.

Obvious outcome for comparing old apples to new apples to oranges. $ 60K+ ZR-1, $50K+ ZO6, and $31,323 TTA. Still would have been fun to see.

would be interesting to have seen that.

just my observation, but i myself have seen a stock zr1 destroy an lt-1 z28 with a supercharger.

the zr1 ran a 12.3@117, and the z28 ran a 12.8@108 iirc.

i asked the zr1 guy what gear he was in when he hit the traps, he was just getting into 4th gear.

When all is said and done. I wanna look back on my life and say it was damn fun. I wouldn't change any of my choices or decisions. My family has a history of short lives. It hasn't changed in the 3 generations my family has been here(Cancer takes it's toll). I smoke, drink, and swear and I'll be damned if I'm worried about how much abuse I rack up on a car.

You have to enjoy it while you can(my philosophy). I love to put miles on the car and I can tell you I probably will be the last owner of her. Although seeing a lot of v8 turbo cars nowadays gets me itching. I share my stuff with my close friends someone wants to borrow it sure have fun wreck the car(who cares), but don't kill yourself.

You can't take it with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx for the props!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
