fiero wants to run

Some guy came in to work asking me to run. I asked what he ran and he said probably 12.5s. He says the car has a v6 with intake exhaust chip, some type of fuel delivery system. He also says it has in his words "naws".The car aloso weighs 1500 lbs.Is this guy bsing me or is this possible? all my mods are in my sig and I should be in the 13 right now. does anyone think I should run him.

Car: 1991 Formula
Engine: 350 firebreathing inches of Small Block Chevrolet
Transmission: A 700R4 that has trouble handling the formentioned 350.
OK Curb Weight stock is 2600, and the 2.8 V-6 in it is rated at 140hp now remember that's stock. So if he did some mods and has a 5 speed he might well be into the high 13's. But I doubt 12.5, also is he running nitrous or not, if so that would be one hell of a ride.
Just race him and post the results, and always remember the Feiro and Corvette guys and only put one women in the car at a time and Camaros fit 3 (wonder why) , Just given you Corvette and Feiro guys a hard time.

Later, Garrett

I would be careful, those cars are light, now by saying nawwwz he sounds like a ***** so the car is prolly slow, but if he really had some nitrous, that think could haul azz.

I talked to him today at work and I told him he was bsing. and said I wanted to run, but guess what. A tree fell on his car and it still isnt fixed. So by the time he gets it fixed I will have 3.73 and a 2500 stall, and my turbo 350 installed.

It sounds like the guy watched the F&F once, and tried to make up stuff about his car...and did a bad job.

Keep in mind, most people who haven't been to the track and have seen the F&F think 12s are respectable, but still relatively slow.

Back when Metro (racing spot near DC) was cool, I was talking with this guy who had a 3rd gen, with a 383. This other kid walks up and asks what he has under the hood, and runs. My new friend tells him he has a 383, and runs 13.7, because he hasn't modded the exhaust, rear, etc, etc.

This other kid was like "That's it?" and walked away.

Maybe he was expecting 8s

I have an 86 Fiero, 2.8L 4-spd std. They weigh about 2750lbs and have around 140hp stock. They run mid 15's out of the box.. An aftermarket chip, exhaust or whatever he's done probably wouldn't make him anything more than a low 15's car.

Even with Naaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwws, he'd still only be in the low 14's...

You can make your own call weather or not you could win, I don't know your car. Just don't try to out handle him, they stick to the road like they're on rails.

If he has a 3800SC out of a grand prix GTP, then you might have to be carefull.. This is a popular swap now a days.. With no mods to the engine after the swap, it'll run 13's.. With bolt on parts only, low 12's high 11's.. We have 2 members on the Fiero Board that have 3800SC motors with most of the bolt on parts.. One guy ran a 12.004 and the other ran 11.74.. (There is video footage and time slips as proof too)

Just food for thought.

Cheers,

:hail: 4.3!!!! I LOVE those motors! I'm gonna build the HELL out of one for a small car sometime, but damned if you didn't get to the Fiero first....

maybe an old 5-speed S-10 p/u? OMG what a great IDEA!

4.3's are pretty nice.I built one and put it in a 1991 GMC sonoma 4wd.It was bored .030.Basicly a stock rebuild.I used the edelbrock cam and matching computer chip.I also had their headers and intake. With a 5.7 throttle body.It ran pretty good.Nothing to amazing though.Just a guess I would say the truck ran 16's.It was still pretty slow.Still enough to shut ricers and up.To give you an idea it would beat my ex girlfreinds grand am GT till about 45mph and then she would pass and continue to pull.It was a 2001.Black with dark tinted window's.It was a 2 door.

*** I loved her car!I am not going to even get on the subject of her.Let's just say she was very very good looking but not to bright.
