I read they were fast for there time .. but now they are really slow .. anyone know anything about it .. i was actaully kinda disappointed that he got that i really wanted him to get a 2002 collectors trans am.. ohh well

They definetly have potential!

For specific info, I'd ask tpivette89. I am pretty sure he'll show up here.

A 2002 CE Trans Am would be nice, but IMO they are very overpriced.

Have fun with the vette! Now all you have to do is convince you dad to do some mods.

Well, think about it this way. Since he payed 8k for it, that leaves 22k left for mods.....j/k

I dunno, the TPI debuted in 85, so it probably has the TPI 350 with aluminium heads. Your looking at similar power numbers to the TPI 350's in Camaro's and Firebirds.

Then again, you could just do a google search for "1986 Corvette" and be done with it.

Gee, that google search yielded this http://www.netvettes.com/1986.html

Its a Vette of course its gonna be fast. Not as fast as most of the 4th gen F bodies and certianly not as fast as the C-5s. Here are the specs I found.

FACTORY BASE PRICE- $27,207 (coupe) $32,032 (convertible)
PRODUCTION TOTAL- 39,729 (27,794 coupes) (7315 convertibles)
CURB WEIGHT lbs- 3086
ENGINE DATA
Displacement- 350 cubic inch V-8
Compression Ratio- 9.5 to 1
Horsepower- 230
Torque lbs-ft- 330
Fuel Injection- Tuned Port

I am not sure about 1/4 mile times I think they are High 13s to low 14s but don't quote me on that one.

No the Aluminum heads were on the '86's. It was the first year they were available, I do beleive this is the first year the convertible's came back though. Man isn't that weird, the Corvette gets something and then a few years later the Camaro gets it. You stuff like 350 TPI engines, convertibles, LT1's, and T-5's I think too.

Ah yes, Camaro a cheap Corvette, gotta love it.

Later, Garrett

I believe, with the 4+3 trans, they're good for low-mid 14's...thats pretty fast in my book! And i thought they had 245 hp?

any TPI Vette (auto or manual) is good for low 14s/ high 13s with a competent driver. the HP numbers varied a little on paper, but not enough to make a big difference in E/T
