97' VR6 Jetta
My cousin has a 97 VR6 Jetta, I'm not sure of the numbers, but he put an intake, cat-back system (neuspeed) computer chip (he paid 150 for the chip) and this Tornado thing that he saw on TV on his intake.....he says he could get 15's w/ it, I don't know, I thought it was like 17 stock...he wants to race, I have a 350 TPI stock....what do you guys think?

You'll rape him so ****ing bad, Don't even waste your gas. Then again........Race him and blow his doors off.........Some of these import owners need to be taught a lesson!

OMFG, i cant belive that a jetta even thinks he could get close to your 5.7TPI with a jetta with some s#@t *** mods, the only way he will get that car to run 15's is to use Nitous or something like that, i say rip his *** apart and laugh at him then tell us about it!!!

LOL sweet, but the car is nice though, I'm a lover of all cars, it doesn't hafta be fast for me to love it, looks are cool too, its the ricers, like some kids at my school, who think putting 2,500 dollars into their cars, they'll be able to beat diablo's, seriously, he said that he could run 10's. lol I laughed in this kids face, he took out his engine, and put a V-tech in...meanwhile, my friend was working at Car Quest at the time and he said that this kid bought OEM parts and regular oil. lol, what a loser.

From what I hear those Tornado things are supposed to act like a cheap $80 supercharger. Or that is what they say in their magazine adds. I doubt it even works, the Tornade thing is probally just a shiny peice of metal in his engine bay for all it is worth. I do not think he could run 15's with basic mods, but I am not an expert on Jettas, so.

Yea, it like, goes on before his intake, and it like, says that it causes the air to twirl, like a tornado, and it says that the air enters faster getting an increase of anywhere from like 5 - 20 HP max, I don't know

is the Jetta a stick?
I'm probably goign to get flammed for this but a Vr6 Jetta with a stick is actually pretty quick, will it be you Iroc? nah, but i wouldn't just assume its a slow POS..

I agree that it could be quick. I do not think it could beat an Iroc though.
And those tornado things are not even supposed to work. Because if they could sell 5-30 hp, $80 bolt-on why don't more ppl have it. I think it is nothing more than an air filter, I can ask one of my freinds though.

ive heard the VR6s are somewhere in the 15s, id guess mid-low. theyre good top end performers (like all imports) but if you have a 350 IROC, the VW shouldnt be a problem. the tornado thing? completely worthless

My car isn't an IROC, its an 86, it had a 305 TPI, BUT, I guess the guy blew the 305 or did a 350 swap cuz it has a JASPER rebuilt...not a performance 350, just a regular, but still...it was purchased in 1999, but I don't know when it was installed. even still, its a 350 TPI like some irocs.

My mom has a stock 2000 VR6 and that thing is peppy as hell. I don't really know what it runs or anything, but its quick around town and off the line it accelerates very nice. Although you do have a 5.7 350...I have an 82 carbed 305 and I know my mom's car will spank me...but I've driven a 87 GTA (with the 5.7 350 of course) and if yours is anything like that 87 I drove you should have no problem with the Jetta. As for that tornado thing that is pure bs.

Be aware of a Red VR6 in Maryland with EIP logo on the top of his windshield, it is a turbocharged VR6 GTI. It is currently running a 13.2. Anyway, a base 3rd generation 97 Jetta VR6 should be able to hit high 15's stock.
