beat a 73 mach 1 tonite
ok for the first time in a while i hung out with the guys tonight, we fooled around in my friends 69 k10 w/ a 327(pretty quick). Then we went and got my car, and cruised the local strip, well nothing looked good so we decided to go home, well about half way back down we came up next to a pretty blue 73 mustang mach 1. Well we both got on it a little at the light and i floored it, took him back to my bumper (i have two 170lb. guys plus me, he is alone) Well he comes back up beside and says he didnt know we were racing, i didnt believe him but told him we could go again. Well we went from about a 45 mph roll to 80 mph, after this i could look over and see his marker lights, IT WAS VERY CLOSE, not doubt i would have beat him worse if i ws alone, but i still beat him. We pulled over at the gas station and all four of us talked for about 45 min. He told us it was about stock , had flowmaster exhuast and such, but it had the 351 Clevland "Q" code engine good for 250 hp. (This is SAE NET) He told me he usaually romps the third gen camaros, and has never had one put up a fight. He was a cool guy, but i think he'll be more cautious of the Third gen f-bodys after tonight.

Technically there was several Cleveland engines, wasn't there? I know of the 351 and 400...
Oh yeah, they do sound nice. Kind of cool how each engine basically has its own sound. My brother's Windsor 79 F100 sounds like an airplane with that muffler-less single exhaust. My 360 70 F100 has dual glasspacks and still sounds really mild. Usually glasspacks make engines sound loud an nasty.

hey TunedPortZ, how did that cam affect your performance? My 305 tpi will be running in a couple days after a month downtime. I had the engine out and decided to put that same cam in my car. Just curious to what it will be like.

sorry man, but i wrecked my car in the summer of 2000 and installed the cam while it sat in the garage for a year, as well as removing the a/c components. So i didnt remember what it wsa like before :/ I will tell you that after i got my exhuast stuff on, i was VERY glad i had that bigger cam, granted its not big, but its about .80 bigger than the stocker. My car is pretty quick for a 305, my 1/8 mile time does my car no justice, from a roll i can hang with an lt1 z28. I just need to get my power to the ground, my best 60ft. was a 2.35 i should be able to get at least a 2.05 when i get my posi and dump these H rated tires, then i could hit about 9.55 9.50. I am planning on porting my heads, installing roller rockers, installing my slp runners, afpr, and getting a guy i know to reburn my chip. I am also running lean. So next summer im shooting for a 9 flat, which is about a high 13. If i can hit that, ill build my 400 Sorry this is so long.
