How fast would a brand new LS1 M6 Ram Air Trans Am be with these mods.....

Going to race this dickwad this weekend becaues every week he gives me **** about how's he wants to take me out so bad......................I saw his time slip and all stock with a catback and filter he ran 12.9@106, and now he has done hooker super comps and probably a few other things..........how do you think I'm going to fair?? My firebird should run close to 110-112. Do you think long tubes would make him that much faster?? I'd like to hand him his *** so he would stop talking **** every weekend at the illegals.

If you can run 12.4's then yes I say you should be able to beat him. Long tubes do make a difference power wise but I don't see it cutting enough off his ET to beat you. Good luck. And shut up the cocky ls1 owner.

A M6 car with longtubes and boltons can be a very fast car, but it sounds to me like this car would be a good match for you.

My guess is this guy is probably running mid 12's. But keep in mind that the record for "bolt on" LS1 (stock heads/cam/internals) is 11.3x.

Also keep in mind that most people do not tune their car enough after they bolt on headers. Pretty much a wideband dyno tune is needed if you want to be running properly.

Either that or Autotap and a MAFT.

Good luck with the race. It should be a fun one!

Longtubes don't make THAT much of a difference. If he really ran a high 12 with only 106 mph on an LS1 M6 though, he must be an excellent driver. MANY LS1's do 106 mph or better stock, but few can translate that into a 12-second pass. The gearing just isn't there and they are hard to get off the line quickly without spinning.

Ive known plenty ls1's getting 4-5 mph with flp/slp longtubes, i dont know if the super comps are as good but its probably pretty close. plus if he has done other mods hes prolly pushing lows 12's depending on what he added and if he can drive.

Is anybody else getting sick of the LS1 hype? Anytime anyone posts ANYTHING about an LS1 car it gets swamped with:

be careful, those LS1's are fast
watch out, stock LS1's can pull 12.9's
a 125 shot of nitrous will put an LS1 into the low 12's high 11's
my friend John Doe with only K&N and exhaust went 12.xx

so on and so fourth. doesnt everybody in the world know this by now???? its a damn 300+ horsepower motor in a car just slightly heavier than a thirdgen with plenty of room to grow powerwise. why does it surprise everyone that they are fast and can be faster with mods???

Well it doesnt' surpise me. I already knew LS1's are fast, its an awesome motor with a kickass drivetrain. However I'm getting pretty confident that I"ll win because I just heard word that a friend of this guy that I know who has a 99 Trans Am with 4.10 gears, intake and exhaust beat him by a car length, and last time I raced the 99 T/A I flew away from him pretty fast. Unless he's installed something other than the long tubes and intake box in one week's time, I really doubt he's going to get me now. If he does I'll race him in the Grand Prix.....its a lot faster than my firebird even off the bottle.
