I don't know if I would be proud of that. It's like you won heat only because your competitor broke an ankle. The guy didn't even get to run. If the car were in theory as fast as yours, you would still win because this guy doesn't sound like a good shifter. I can drive a stick, but not the well, which is why I drive an automatic. I also like to drink (not alcohol) while I am driving. I get thirsty quickly.

You guys/girls should stop hating on others car so much and just concentrate on your own. Alot of people hated my old car and I didnt like it. But yet I hated on others cars also and used to talk ****. Thing I noticed is I was being imature also. Now days I think that its their cars and their money so they should do whatever they please to it. If I hate on them I'll be no better then the peopel who hate on me. And it goes for you guys/girls too. If you hate on these "ricers" then you are no better then other people who hate on you (ie. ricers, mustang people, etc.) we have to stop all this hate

It's not hate.... I just don't like their attitudes and way of thinking, a family member of mine is always talking crap about domestics and he drives an import. he's always talking about turbos turbos and turbos. I keep telling him if he HAS to rely on turbo rather than his engine, then his car sucks. well that's my two cents.

Well, let me tell you that that guys escort is crap! I own a 93' escort. Stock, the escort only has 88hp under the hood, the GT had I beleive 120 to 130hp or so I think. In any case my escort brand new off the showroom floor would run 21 seconds in the 1/4 mile. An escort GT probably isn't much faster.

The only escort I'd ever be proud to own, and its been mentioned in this thread already, is a Cosworth. I don't think my car GTA could beat that car in stock form. I"d be proud to own any REAL import sports car. Not a econobox, but a true car thats been built from the ground up for performance.

Gimme the key's to a Supra TT, or a GTA and I"d take the GTA in a heart beat though. Even though the GTA would lose the race.

for the record, Escort cosworth, 205 bhp 1100kg 0 - 60 6.3 secs 1/4 14.5.

this car was a formidable rally weapon about 10 (yes 10) years ago. still v. desirable and genuine cars are worth more now than when they were new.

would i have one over a GTA? no never

do I like them? not particularly

do i respect them? yes immencely.......

before the name subaru popped up these were the real king of the street. Many fakes about though.

GTA should JUST pip it through the 1/4, the cossie tends to bog due to the grip of the 4WD system. race versions touched 600BHP and spat fire into the night sky. these cars EARNED their huge wings.

Tacking a large lump of fibreglass to the back of an escort GT is fine, as long as the owner doesn't claim this then allows them the respect due to the cosssie.

ricers tend to aim for the cartoon look we ridicule. it doesn't make either camp right, the people around the cars cause the problems.

Also for the record, the origional cars to cary the cosworth 2L 16V turbo lump was the Sierra RS500 (1986) this car dominated touring car racing, and the licks of flame from the stealthy black texaco cars as they lunged down the inside of another victim at the tracks across the UK is one of those images that will live with me forever.

fart pipe? check,
huge wing? check
white hot turbo? check.
respect? check
rice? never.
