how fast are SVT contours???

just curious. there's some punk who used to have a 5.0 and always stared me down, well now he has a SVT contour. i think it has after market exhaust for the sound of it, and might be stick. ohter then that it look's stock. just curious as to what those run stock and modded. im not going to race him, but if it happen's i would like to know what im up against. hopfully i'll have some stuff done to my car by then.

Those should be mid 15 sec cars, 15.4 to be exact, 0-60 in 6.9 sec.

Yeah it's rare to seem them outta the 15's. If they are, it's high 14's.

Car: 91 Firebird 'vert, 91 Formula
Engine: 5.7, 5.0
Transmission: T56, T5
Axle/Gears: Auburn w/ 3.73's, 3.42
My buddy had one a little over a year ago-what an excellent, fun car-especially since u get in thinking it's just another "contour", then you drive it & it's pretty impressive. He had exhaust, mass air, air intake, computer work & a 50 or 70 progressive shot of juice & it ran a 14.40 at 99mph. Pretty respectable & that aluminum 2.5 V6 has a killer sound when mated w/ a pair of 2-chamber flows! In stock form though I think they're low 15's.
Oh, they're 5-speed cars too.

you're looking at around 200 horses and 3000 pounds. they're pretty nice looking, but they run a mid to high 15, and the top speed is around 140. like i said, pretty nice, but probably not really fast unless it's got a good driver.

Friend of mine used to have a SVT Contour. It's pretty fast for what it is. He took me for a ride and it actually amazed me how quick it was. It's not a drag car but it's refined to be more of an all around car. It's a mid to low 15 sec car so if he thinks it's faster than his old 5.0 than he must of had a pretty beat and slow 5.0
