Marc...do you think a Chevy 302 and a ford 302 are the same? HAHA!!!! Thanks for the laugh today it's been a long day at work so far, and that helped!
Oh yeah, even though I wish I did...I do not have a 69 Camaro...but I do know someone who does...
and one more point...you said a car that changes their tires are not stock anymore right? How long do you expect tires to last? Can't some one upgrade their tires??? I don't see why you would consider that non-stock...I thought we were talking about the engine here...
Could be that the 302 your dad's friend, or whoever it was, engine is not running very good...you said it was all origional right??? well that's a 33 year old engine...just a thought...

Car: 1991 Camaro Z28
Engine: 350
Transmission: 700R4
Almost all Z06 tests I've seen are in the 12's
They also only wound the 302 up to 6000 rpm (per the article i cited before) that's 2000 more usable rpm range they didn't use. They had a factory red line from the factory of 6000. Why? I don't know. But they do rev higher.
This is becoming lock bait.
David
PS What does your car run in the quarter?

Change to standard replacement tires, yes. Change over to ET Streets or slicks, no.
The engine has since been rebuilt, back in the early 90's I think he said. The motor runs fine, believe me
Black 91 Z28 - best ET was 13.85@100.2 - but a cold front had just come through that night and temps were around 60 with the track still warm, hum was 25% or so - kind of a fluke run. Car runs consistent 13.9-14.0 @ 99 MPH. That was before the DR's and I still had the crappy Edelbrock headers. It's no street rocket, but it'll hold it's own. I've got a Comp XE 274 and Performer RPM sitting in my room now, just waiting for the $ for a set of AFR 195's. Then I'll really talk some smack!
And I know the 302 will rev above 6000, the way his motor was screaming... I doubt he revved as high as 8000+ though. He's rough on the car, but he has A LOT of money invested and the last thing he wants to do is destroy that motor.
