What exactly is a Dodge Duster and is it worth listing as a kill?

Well, I felt like being an *** today after work... well I guess you could just call it cruising. I drove down the main stretch and a stock neon pulls out behind me. We lined up at a light and I just thought I'd see if he's up to no good... He took off with a lead foot, but was by no means racing... I paced him to the next light, just following behind a little. He did the same thing so of course I shift 1st to 2nd, then a powershift from 2nd to 3rd like I mean business... put two cars on him by 35... Anyhow that was good for a laugh... considering he wasn't racing.

So, I pull off and headed for a stretch that sometimes spawns a race... I drive down the road, and take the turn past the police station. I stop at a stop sign at the end of the street and pull onto 96B which goes right past Ithaca college. The road is a 9% grade, so it's pretty steep. Anyhow, I turn onto this road and there's some sort of ****ty dodge behind me. I go on about my business and end up stopped at a light that has no business turning red at 11:00 PM. This Dodge is giving me no roll-back room, so I engage the clutch perfectly and this dude gets right on my ***. It's a 30 zone, I'm going 35 up the hill and he is about 10 feet behind me. The road turns into two lanes up a head and transitions into a 40 then 50 MPH zone. So, I decide I'm gonna pull into the right lane when the road widens and see exactly what this guy's intentions are.

So I pull into the right, and he punches it, slowly gaining on me for a half second... I'm in 3rd at 35 and of course I have to punch it... now granted I should have been in 2nd if I meant business, but I wasn't too threatened. So he pulled up to the rear of my door at the moment I punched it and then he didn't gain an inch... I continued accelerating @ WOT to 50 MPH and he's not getting anything, powershift to 4th, and I pulled a car or two on him pretty quickly... I shut down at 60 just to keep the cops from suddenly becoming interested.

I slowed to 50 and he paced me a couple hundred feet and I let him pass by (had to see what I had thrashed)... It was a Dodge duster. ('94 I think)

ANYHOW, To get back to my topic... WTF is a Dodge Duster and is it "fast" in any reguard? I tried finding specs, but my search was fruitless...

What did the car look like? If it was an older body style(60's or 70's) then yes, some were fast, and worth listing. If it was an 80's, square-bodied, fugly, fwd, then it wasn't worth your time.

No it was definitely an early 90's duster... It was definitely worth my time though, the guy was on my *** and there were several cars behind him to witness the spanking... he seemed to just run out of steam when we hit 50...

The Duster is a Plymouth, or atleast the fwd version is (Plymouth Sundance Duster). I think it's on the same platform as the Dodge Shadow, though I'm not absolutely sure of that. If so, it's likely the Duster had the 3.0 liter V-6, which puts out 140 hp and about 170-175 ft.lbs. torque. Those cars are pretty light, too.

The Duster was Plymouth's version of a Dodge Shadow ES, Look at what my turbocharged Shadow runs. Not too bad, These cars are really light to add to it. The Duster's were 3.0 V6 and most were stick and got to 60 in mid 7's

Ya we have a 90 Dodge Shadow ES with the Turbo kit. That car kicks *** even after all these years. I would run it against 305's anyday. But it has lots and lots of miles:lala:

Oh ya good kill on the Plymouth Duster He almost had you

Yea the little 4 cyl turbo Dodge cars such as the Shadow and Daytona should not be underestimated, If u ever pull up to a Shelby CSX Shadow, It has 210 hp stock. Daytona R/T has 225 hp stock. These are FAST little cars

I guess I'll just mention that I've got 156,000 miles without a rebuild on this engine.
