lost to an import :)
I have to admit, I'm a huge import fan. I love Supra's (friend has a twin turbo 94, modded) and another friend has a Celica GT-Four All wheel drive turbo, modded of course. These cars are nuts. Anyhow...
I raced an 89 Supra Turbo... he has upped the boost, downpipe, midpipe, exhaust, intake and some other minor things. damn that car worked me good!
I don't mind though he was very mature about it.
I'm glad the imports around my town are performance-oriented... not much for rice around here thank-***.
I also lost to my friend's Celica AWD Turbo and my friend's MR2 Turbo. LOL.... The car was parked all winter so far I am 4 losses 1 win (bone stock 89 iroc 350 TPI) lol.
Garett
92 Z28 350 TPI exhaust, intake, 2400stall, transgo shift kit, Firehawk SZ 50 EP tires.

Bummer about the losses.
Why dont you make it faster and whoop some @ss?!? The older supra should be within your reach.
This might help.

Oh and to the dude that lost, good try man, get a Turbo setup yourself and then see who wins! Ignore anyone who makes fun of you, it sounded like a good race.

The older Turbo Supras had 220hp out of the factory with only 5psi boost. Pump it up and obviously the power will increase, 10psi maybe 300hp with no other mods. Unfortunately the older motors do not have the strength or the good intake setup of the 93+ cars, not to mention they weigh 200 or 300lbs more than the newer ones. I remember seing one or two hopped up ones running low 13's. high 12's a few years back (opposed to low 15's stock), so they can be fast if the owner puts it together right.
Then again, why bother when a 93+ is a better car and ran mid-low 13's out of the factory. Low 12's are possible with some boost/bolt-ons and some run into the low 11's with turbo and intercooler upgrades. You won't see too many 12.0 or better Supras on the street, they only street race tham and take them to import events-like the one before Hi-Tech in May (AM session), where i saw at least 20 of them on the way out (when we rolled in).
I wouldn't be embarassed about the MR2, they can be made to run in the 13's - you won't find any 11 second ones though. The Celica is a different story, they were sleds out of the factory and never ran that well moded - maybe a 13.5 is all they have to fight with. The talon/Eclipse was the quick turbo 4WD car, not the Celica.
Why don't you put 125hp NOS into it?

are imports and domestic's even in the same league? i mean, your talking about a tiny import 1.8-3.4 liter engines vs our 305+
Personally i love to race with imports, but at the same time, you take the NOS or the turbo/super chargers away, they are nothing.

I perfer the domestic sicne it takes a lot less cash to make them fast! I've had some premium cars but never modified them due to the cost. I purchased a 87 vett for half the cost of my imports, then modified the crap out of it and hardly anyone could run with me! However, I sold it because my wife and I had a baby the is for selling the vett, not having our baby , anyway, that's how I ended up with my Z...similar engine which means that I already know how to modify the engine and make it perform. I'm finished with the engine and getting ready to put a new tranny in. Anyway, my point is that you can make any car fast, but it takes a lot less money to make the domestic cars run in the low 12's AND 99% of the imports i see at the track with the huge sitckers and even the modified ricers only run 14's if they are lucky...........AND they spend large amounts of cash to get them into the 14's????? I just don't understand that?????

i laugh at some of the ignorant comments about imports "take the NOS or turbo away they are nothing.." blah blah blah ever think some are BUILT around that in mind? **** take my turbo away i'm left with a 3.8 with 8.0:1 CR, talk about fast
sorry you guys don't know what real imports are, as in Rx7's Supra TT's 300Zx's..
keep racing those 14-15 second hopped up civic's and think you're kings instead of running with the big boys...

Fly...I agree, i had a 300x and an ttrx7....both very fast, i would guess low 14-hi 13's. Anyway, it cost a load full to upgrade thses awsome "ricers" For the majority, these pluss the supra's are sweet!

i'm not an import fan really. but if a car is fast its fast. Just because there are a lot of riced out civics that run 15's-16's doesn't mean there arent fast imports out there...which a lot domestic guys say they're aren't, well i myself have seen high 9 second supra's as STREET cars...no much is going to stop that..but they are few and far between..but please guy give respect where respect is due, there ARE fast imports out there, a lot of which will rip a lot of us new *******s..

Yea those factory turbo imports are fast as hell with a few mods. There was a tt 300zx at the drag strip last time I went running low 12s. After he made his run he turned on his booming sound system. So it shows you how quick those things can be because he was going that quick with a system in his car and radials. Although the Civics with turbos were running slow as hell even with the turbos. You could tell which cars were made for turbos (Supras, 300zx, RX7) because they were running low 12s and 13s while the imports with added turbos were running 15s and 14s But imagine how fast our cars would be with TT or a SC Reminds me of this article (yes I know its old) http://www.bankspower.com/FNN/Banks_...ht_030102.html

yes everything is built around something, but what would you rather have, a engine or a 5,000 supercharger cuz your engine can't produce the power? i hope every one who post on this website says the engine..

Yes! the TT cars i had were fast STOCK! I was really impressed with the 3000gt becaise they have all wheel dirve. I have been tossing around the idea of selling my Z and gettin a Typhoon sicne I am an avid mountain biker/skier and would make a great family car/hot rod! But i know that i will not be able to get what i want for my Z! I am about to put a new transmssion in it to handle the 550 flywheel hp. I guess since i have put so much work into it, i might as well keep it! Guess I'll get a second car. But yes, the twin turbo cars have a lot of potential, but they are expensive in the first place, and to mod them, $$$$!! cost a lot more that the domestic cars!

Plus with turbo cars the parts on them cost $$$$ so watch what you break. The parts can set you back some. And you don't find too many turbo cars lying around in the yards.

Yeah I am not mad the import scene around here is really good actually, the guys are friendly only a few posers. My best friend's 91 Celica GT-Four is FAST... it's funny because when we're in his car we killed a C4 vette and this guy was the typical domestic guy... he was all liek "that there a 4 banger son?" my buddy says "yep... 13 second four banger how 'bout you?"
anyhow my point is that I love domestics AND imports; I think most mature true car guys can appreciate both cars. If money wasn't a thing I would like to do-up an MKIV Supra as well as a ram air t/a.
My intake? I have a K&N ont he end of the TB right now *ick* thing sucks up pure heat talk about "warm air intake"... anyhow I have a nice 4" dual CAI going in in few weeks waiting on the battery relocation kit to come in.. should be sweet probably 10hp.
headers will be coming over summer, then Eibach/KYB's

In general, I can't stand the ****en posers, The young kids that put stickers, wings, rims, ground effects. They think that their car is fast, I hate that ****, I show them up real fast though. There is a primered Neon that drives around town with ground effects, double decker wing, and that annoying bumblebee exhaust, My friend ripped him a new ******* and my friend had a MERCURY TOPAZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a lowered S10 Chevy Truck that drives around that has racing seats, custom grille, rims, exhaust, tail light lenses. AND DO YOU WANNA KNOW SOMETHING????? HE GOT HIS *** HANDED TO HIM BY A FORD PROBE!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS **** IS TOO FUNNY

A R spec motor is about 10K, and has 525 hp!! Imports rev higher and faster than our cars. The power loss is a lot less as well. And of course 4WD is always a good way to go. I could make a civic take down a vet, but it would cost a TON of money and time. And that is what it comes down too. Just remember it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, a win is a win.

I bet you have some serious NAWS on your 5,000,000 HP racing cam camaro too. :sillylol:

this is just too funny!
on a serious note though, Im getting so tired of seing people post about how the "beat a Civic today!" or something like that. It pisses me off to no end. I mean come on, we've got Camaro's and Firebirds, I used to have a 305 in mine, so I know how "fast" they are. but seriously, post about real races. I want to hear about Mustang vs. Camaro, or import vs. Camaro, and stuff like that, not rice vs. Camaro. its getting old. I know some people dont have the time/money/desire/knowledge to make their cars fast, and I have respect for those people, they drive their car because they like too. but for the people that come on here and talk like their car is the fastest thing on the road when all they have is a 305 with a "racing cam", go away. come back when your motor has some ***** to it.
ok, enough ranting for now (zips up fire suit)

we can have the p*issing contest all day long "domestic vs. Import".... but the fact remains that any car, and I do mean ANY car can be fast if your willing to pay the cash.... i've saw Chevettes that will rip most of us a new bunghole.... (it was hilarious, huge @$$ blower sticking out of the hood of a chevette....) anyway, any car can be fast it all depends on what you prefer and what your willing to spend on it.... never under estimate the car sitting beside of you on the line, it may just whoop ya bad....
our cars come with big cubic inches, their cars come with big turbos.... its all the same, take away their turbo's they are slow, take away some of our inches, we are slow....
By all means, laugh your @$$es off at every fart can wearin, big wing sportin, sticker stuck lame duck out there, but give respect where its due.... step down when you are beaten, then go mod it and come back.... hopefully when you come back and kick their bums they will be so gracious....
have a good day....

yeah i'm kinda tired of seeing camaro's beat civics or wahooo my camaro beat a cavalier
its like some of the people go picking on cars they KNOW they can beat, what fun is that?
I laugh at the "well take ___ away and their nothing" its all how the motor was built. Sure take away my turbo i'm nothing, but my motor was built for it, same can be said about motors with superchargers or big blocks, like previously stated.
So guys, stop picking on civics, they have enough embarassment they have to deal with

Its just so friggen stupid when people pull that crap, "well take away your whatever and then we'll race." screw that, it just goes back to the tried and true saying, "run whatchya brung" steet racing (well, racing in general) is not about being equal, its about running whatever you've got and having fun. if people want to say get rid of the nitrous, what are they going to tell me, get rid of your aftermarket heads? I mean come on, its just stupid, if you lose, deal with it, learn from it, and come back later with something bigger and better. or shutup and go away and buy a civic so we can laugh at you. its funny being 18 and having friends with that mentality. in Lake Jackson we all meet at a Hobby Lobby parking lot on saturday nights to just hang out and BS. it was so damn funny the other night because there were about 15 of us just sitting around, mostly camaros and mustangs, and what do we see across the parking lot but about 10 riced out civics, eclipses, and....get this, a Daewoo! its the funniest thing in the world. and everytime they would drive past, it never failed that atleast one of them would rev their little fart can/hamster wheel engine up and go buzzing past. we just laughed everytime.
