camaro l03 vs. cavalier z24
Well I am embarassed to say but I got beat by I cavalier z24 by(not sure what year between a 2000 - 2002 ) about 1/4 of a car length yesterday. All he had that I could see was exhauxt probabbly a K&N and a manual trans. My mods are arein my signature. i thought I would definetly take him since I have about 20 more hp and lots more torque I had him up until about 55 - 60 mph and then he slowly started to pull. Hopefully with my 3.42's, headers and custom chip I should not have to worry about them any more!!!

I got beat by one last summer too. He had a 96 or so auto, was running 16.2-5 range I was running 16.8. I'm pretty sure I can beat him now, but these other guys I know run high 15s in theirs. Should be no problem once I get the gears and maybe some pulleys and a chip. Once the intake and worked TBI unit go on they're definatley toast. As the $$ comes, so does the power.

Unfortunately your 20hp advantage is more then nuetralized by his car being 500lbs lighter.
My ex GF had a Sunfire 4 door- 2.4 Twin Cam auto
that was only 0.3 behind my auto LO3 IROC.
Talk about embarassing!

Well i hope the headers and gears help out the next time!! I am basically trying to do what i can to make it faster without touching the engine or spending min money on it (no cam or heads for me anytime soon) because I eventually want to drop in a 350.

yup Lo3's have good low end power and what not. But the top end is total crap. Thats why people look down on the RS...but thats also what makes it fun when I used to race. People see RS on my car. But atcually I can take out slightly modified 3rd gen Z's haha...though my car looks nothing like a sleeper O_o

I seriously don't know how you lost!!!!!! Your a shame to the Camaro community losing to a little 4 banger!! My friend Jim has a 2002 Cavalier LS Sport with the 2.4 DOHC, 5-Speed. Dude.....................I have a 2.8 and I absolutley handed him his *** on a plate, I have no clue how you lost, That baffles me!

I'd suggest your friend can't drive- the 2.2 Eco-Tec in the Cavilier sport is almost as powerful as that weak knee 2.8 V6, plus a Camaro weighs several hundred pounds more.
I have an 87 road test of a 2.8 5spd- 1/4 mile 17.3 sec.
Fact is a stock LO3 is getting pretty old- new cars are getting faster all the time- even the cheap base models.
