Don't drag race in SoCal

Today on the news they were showing cops going to guys houses and jobs at 7am serving warrants because the police had caught them drag racing on camara multiple times, they put these guys in cuffs and impounded their cars. These guys did not run from the cops or leave the scene of a crash, they were just caught on a survialence tape. All the guys drove imports and the cops were showing the wings and engines to the news and acting like they were breaking the law by modifying there cars. This scares me because I work in that area and have raced before around there.California is starting to treat drag racers like drug dealers, what happened to just getting a ticket?

They've done the same in my area. They're trying to stop the racing so people won't get killed. And giving out tickets isn't going to stop that. But they don't get the fact that there are few drag strips around. I know the closest one to my house is well over 100 miles away which makes it so i only can get up there every now and then.

100 miles away? that sucks! i live in Newark, DE and the closest drag strip is in Cecil County Maryland, only 30 minutes away tops! damn, they need to build more of these things, maybe then wed stop street racing

It takes me a good 2 hours of hauling *** to get up to New England Dragway. If I only lived 30 minutes away from it i'd go to street night atleast every wednesday and maybe some friday's. and the sad thing is about 20 minutes from my house and 5 minutes from where I work there sits a closed airport doing nothing at all and would make a perfect 1/4 mile strip. I know if there was a strip that close myself and many other people I know would not be out on the street looking for races(not that I'm out there much anymore anyways). They had passed a bill to turn another airport which is about 40 minutes away from my house into a strip but one of the members of the airports council voted against it saying it was "un-natural use of an airfield"

Yea I live in So. Cal. San Diego has had a bad problem with illegal street racing so they have been cracking down. If you go out to Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs they have the cameras there too at areas where racing happens. Too many punks in their imports trying to copy F&F. Unfortunately they are stupid and go to areas that cops look for racing

Going to Jail?

Here in Florida they are pushing to make drag racing a CRIMINAL OFFENSE, meaning you can actually serve jail time for it. You can't get your car impounded yet, but who knows what they might right in this new law.

A while back 4 high school kids died when their Integra crashed going about 110. After that the issue had gotten the spotlight, they even have commercials that tell kids the dangers of racing. Who listens to this PSA anyway?

We just are smarter about where we race, and keep it OFF main roads and only the back roads.

here in mississippi if you get caught racing on the streets. they put you in jail for 30 days and suspend your liscense for 1 year. they just passed this law recently, b-cuz of all the stupid imports, but luckily its only for certain cities here, thankfully i live in the middle of no where and theres an 1/8 mile drag strip about 30 min away....hehe

Have you ever seen how utterly stupid the ricers drive and risk people who are watching the races lifes. Ive seen way to many accedents in kerny mesa and other places these guys like to race down here. I personally think they should get busted, but the fact that they are getting busted for just being around the races is pushing it a bit much. Maybe that is what it takes though. just my 2 cents

The ricers are very dumb in the fact that they race in areas where there are a lot of people. Instead of traveling out to industrial areas and away from urban life they rather just set-up a race right near a major street so they are bound to get noticed I know they impound your car here if caught street racing. The ones that really get me are people who go weaving through traffic like there is some kind of emergancy and go cutting people off, but that is a whole other topic that really irritates me
