I know this probably will get closed, but c'mon. I'm curious. I still get sick every time I see a muscle car turned into a hooptie ride with gold wheels. I saw today a 4th gen z-28 with lowrider wheels? WTF? Anyways...opinions?

I'd have to say ricers. Sure some nice cars are ruined by "G-rides" but so are some decent "before rice" cars. And it's mainly the ricers that are annoying with their horrible exhaust and revving at you.
Today this new Cougar was revving right behind me, what a joke.

This is Definately getting locked, but you must understand in our town, you'll see perfectly good cars RUINED by people G-funkin them out. I'm talkin slammed with 100 spoke wheels and chrome fender eyebrows, and they are always beat up. They love auto zone exhaust tips too. I've seen IROCS and GT mustangs both come to this sad fate. Not too many muscle cars though.

Yes, just because the exhaust sounds horrible that makes a ***** of course it must be a cheap 4-banger too. There is no point in modding a *****. A ***** should get you back and fourth to work in order to save up for your Thirdgen. (or mod it)

That is a tough one
This is a tough one..
But I would have to say atleast the G-Rides don't try to rev
at us, and they pretty much keep to themselves.
When I pull up next to a G-Ride, I have never had them
laugh at my car, or make snide comments.
On the other hand, I have had people who drive R-Cars
pull up next to me and laugh at my car, and I have heard
them make snide comments about muslce cars, call us hicks
and everything else you can think of.
So as Much as I dont like the look of the gold spoked g-ride
look, (and it really ticks me off how they ruin good trucks with those tiny rims) but..... like I said.. the G-look people, typically
go about their business and leave us alone.
We speed by, they just kick back and listen to G-music and
drive real slow.

Because you can get performance out of a car without that crappy exhaust sound. But most cars with that exhaust only run 16s anways, that's what I'm referring to. So I would say 95% of them are rice.

I know what you mean about all the g's ruining clasics. There is this "Heavy metal" band that is local here and they have like an 84 olds cutlass with like 10 inch wheels, painted orange, with hydrolics. it makes me sick personally just because the cutlass used to be a bad *** car and now they are just defying and raping it. not to mention the late 80's toyota truck runnin around with the top chopped off and it has 22's with hydro's. seriously whats the point of wasting your money like that and just being able to bounce up and down, i'd much rather do the 1/4 in 9 sec for that much money.

amen to that...i hate both equally with a passion, so IMHO they all need to DIE DIE DIE DIE and DIE some more!!!!i'd rather drive a mustang than drive a rice burner or G-ride.....

black85transam, you say that like driving a mustang is a bad thing. i'm sure that a fox 3 bodystyle v6 would spank your car. . .eventhough thats not really saying much since my grand caravan was able to keep up with you. you really shoudln't try to badmouth things that can whoop you.

Hate either of them, no. Think that they are misguided, yes. I'd have to say that (except for the hard core *****), ricers are easier to turn from the dark side than a homeboy in his G-mobile. At least when ricers ruin a car, they are trying to make it faster (or look like it is). And usually the only alignment problem incurred by the rice slam is too much -camber, I hate to think what those 10" rims that stick out 6" are doing to the suspension. [/ramble mode off/]

Let's add a new contender....
How about asses who lower trucks and sport utes? What is the point? Why? They are made to be sturdy and have high ground clearance. So they are now utility vehicles that aren't used for utility. About as useful as a dishwasher. It's like smoking and not inhaling. It's like buying a vette and doing 10 below at all times.

Yeah, SUVs that are lowered kind of irritate me, even trucks too, course if it's a hot rodded truck, obviously it's purpose isn't to go off trail, so then it looks cool.

I hate the G-rides more. Being so close to the border, we have more than our fair share of G-rides (ok, wanna-be G-rides). Every single car in South Tucson has 1000$ rims on it. Even a late 70's Toyota.
At least the ricers have the same purpose that we do, even if they go about it in the completely wrong way. We all want to go fast. But they want to look pretty first. What do you expect? They're kids? What do they know?

Car: too many ...
It never ceases to amaze me how close minded some of you are ...
as far as 'ricers' you guys should listen to cobrakiller ...
and as far as lowered trucks and g-rides, some people out there have different goals when they mod their car ... not everyone is a speed demon that wants to run fast 1/4 mile ... some people go purely for show or look. So I guess just because they dont have the same goals as you that makes them stupid?

Lowering a 4-wheel drive version of a vehicle that comes in a 2-wheel drive version is stupid, IMHO.
Some of that type of modding I can actually appreciate even though it looks ridiculous. There's a white Nissan pickup at my college with 20" rims on it... looks funny, but with the hydraulics he can make it sit on the ground with the wheels in the air. Not very useful, looks funny, but that's a lot of work. I can appriciate that.
Geo Metro with 100 spoke Daytons on it. No much effort, looks stupid, is stupid. (Yes, I saw one.)
92 Z28 with 100 spoke Daytons on it, a shame. A car that was built to handle, lowered with tiny wheels on it. Defeats everything the car as a whole was. Makes me cry.

Hawiian, I don't like ricers who think they can beat an IROC-Z that I worked my ***** off for I don't care about other vehicles, or how people prefer them. If someone want's a ***** let them have one (It's not my car) but when they wanna race I tell them to get a real car and then compete.

Ok, here goes:
Ricers- Wannabe poseurs who slap stickers, fart-cans, wings, and japanese lettering on their cars, along with neons and the latest aftermarket accessory crap from PepBoys and talk **** and look down at anyone who does not conform to their group dynamic, and think that their car is faster than anything.
Import Drivers- People who mod imports for speed/performance, and are not above hanging out with f-body/mustang owners just because they drive domestic instead of foreign, who know that some cars may be faster than theirs, and are probably laughed at by the ricers for "letting their car go to waste" because they generally don't put the ***** accessories on.
G-Riders- People who put just as much time and money (probably a LOT MORE money) as we put into our cars, for most g-riders it is a cultural thing (check out an issue of Lowrider magazene if you don't believe me). G-riders mostly prefer show over go, but most at least have the engine rebuilt and chromed, but not modded for performance.
Personally, I respect import drivers simply because imports are generally harder to work on, mostly due to lack of space in the engine bay, and harder to find performance parts for, compared to domestic muscle. Also, most import drivers a cool people to talk to, and they generally respect the time and effort that we put into our rides. I respect most of the g-riders simply because of the sheer amount of time and money spent on their cars, more than I have the patience to do! That, and they have some really interesting ideas for interiors, barring the crush-velvet half seats that swivel out, and the 1/2' diamater chain-link steering wheel. Ricers, however, are not to be respected nor feared, and I mostly ignore them. Until I am done with my car, that is....then, it will be rice for breakfast, rice for lunch, rice for dinner...and for dessert, rice pudding, anyone? Mmmm...pudding.....

I hate those ones that sit at stop lights and bounce up and down
it funny watching them try to cross the railroad tracks at 50 mph though g- ride worse than *****, atleast the ricers put in an effort and THEY ARE FASTER than g-rides

ricers are posers in the purist sense. basically they are kids who buy imports cause the REAL import cars they see in magazines look cool to them. and because it takes alot of time and money to make a import respectably fast (which they cant afford), they modify their cars to LOOK like the real imports. they seem to think that because their cars look similar, they will perform similar too. this just isnt the case. which is why i call these cars "rice" and they get clobbered by me on every street encounter. talk to the real import owners and they will tell you they are sick of rice as well (almost as much as we are). to put it simply, its like putting IROC decals on a V6 camaro, and thats why i dont like them

I think 4WD SUV's that are lowered with 22'' rims are pretty stupid. There are some kids in my town with S-10 Blazers with 4WD that are lowering them! That just doesn't make any sense to me. If you wrench on your own car, wether it be a domestic or import, and it goes fast, then thats cool with me. What's not cool with me is the people whose cars look like they drove through the accessories section of Autozone thinking they have the fastest thing next to John Force's funny car. Since they are not fast and can't handle, they usually drive like idiots and cause accidents. These are the people who give us a bad name. I'm not trying to preach or anything, but we gotta watch our backs around these idiots. But by all means, if one of these accessory displays on wheels trys to mess with you, show them who's boss. If you get far enough in front of them, they can't hit you!
