Really, that's good for you, no paint got scratched or chipped.. I know my '76 TA was a tank too, leaving school one day a girl rear ended me at a roll. I got a couple chips on the paint but that's it, half her bumper was haning on the road

I was stopped in traffic , a ford ranger 2 cars behind me came flying up behind a chevy fullsize and never stopped , she totaled the fullsize chevy , the chevy pushed a caddy into me . There cars were totalled , they had to be towed , I drove away with only a crack in my tail light and scratch on my bumper .....My camaro is like my timex watch , takes a lickin and it keeps on tickin !

Apparently the front ends don't seem to be as strong. My friend owns a formula and was pulling out of work one night when his heater core popped a leak and fogged his windshield up. He rear ended a stopped truck with a custom trailer hitch doing about 30mph. The front end of his formula sustained substantial damage. Destroyed the inner front bumper support, the drivers side inner and outer fender, and the hood ... as well as busting his vaccuum canister and the hood busted his injectors on his TBI.

"Tech" doesn't nescessarily refer to just the engine. TECHnically I feel that some people on this board are a bit too uptight and ****. How's your @ss feeling zippy?

When I had my 86 Firebird (hence the reason I am 86FyrBrd instead of 86TransAm or something like that) I was driving through a movie theather parking lot, on a road that goes through the lot so I was doing maybe 15 MPH, well a lady thought she could blow her stop sign and beat me through the intersection
long story short, she didnt beat me, small accident, no injuries, her drivers side front corner met my passenger side front corner......proving she had NO chance of beating me through the intersection women
But it totalled that car, it wasnt worth much, 305 4 barell, no t-tops or anything, just a beater of a first car, but hey, totalling that got me the T/A that I made into what I have today

Exactly one wheel / tire assy. is even usable.
Overall, it was fun to take the pic, and then me and a buddy convinced a friend of ours that I had wrecked the car. You had to be there

Just how low was that bridge anyway???
A note to those of you who've been whacked in the rear (not personally - that's your business). The bumpers on our cars have a 3-4" internal plastic waffle construction that is designed to compress and shatter when hit. The reason the bumper looks good is because this layer has absorbed the shock. It's only good for one hit though so the next time you experience some "rear end action" you will likely get one of your subs slapped up the back of the head.

this is funny because I was backing my 68 bird down the driveway at about hmm 5mph tops, and my brother backed in his 85 z, and well the back ends collided, it chipped his paint pretty good and the bird didnt have a spot on it. Needless to say I ran and hid for about 2 hrs, then came home, he got the entire car painted anyways so it didnt really matter in the long run

This is not B.S!
A buddy of mine owned an 85 T/A, one day on his way to work, he has a siezure, lost control of the car...and went THROUGH a telephone pole.
His car cut that thing in half like a knife going through warm butter! He took out the power for a square mile.
Of course the car was toatled, the engine was smashed into the firewall and pretty much the whole front of the car was destroyed, including the suspension, the bumper was crushed into the front of the motor.
He had no injuries at all.

Both bumpers on our cars are beefy, take off some body panels and take a look
the rear doesn't damage easily because of a waifer type spacer that absorbs the impact. and since the rear bumper cover is soo flexable as it is, the bumper cover doesnt crack easy.
the front bumper cover however is much more solid and will break or crack in a collision.
I rearended a guy at less than 2mph, and my front clip needs replacing

ya the fronts of our cars suck. theres like nothing up there...
Did you know if you remove that huge heavy bumber in the rear you gain up to .2 in the 1/4 mile? it weighs a ton!
Look at the front of my camaro... its empty except for the tranny cooler lol! One little bumb and its all over... the radiator absorbs most of the damage!
