gas out of tail pipe

For some reason gas drips out of my exhaust pipe. Is this normal?

Are you sure it's gas? Having water drip out is normal, having gas drip out is not.

Right. If it doesn't burn, it isn't gasoline...

Had a ford ranger come into the shop once with a busted fuel pressure regulator. It was running with gas pouring out of the tail pipe. Crankcase was clear full as well. Replaced the regulator, changed the oil and then prayed that the exhaust didnt catch fire. lol Gas vapor poured out in a cloud for 1/2 hour. I know I should have found a way to drain the exhaust, but....

Anyway make sure its gas. It's probably not, but this could be a possibility.

I'm sure it's just water. I washed my engine a while ago and some water got into the air filter....luckily my car started! The water is all black and smells funny though. probably just because it has been through my engine and exhaust and carb. Thanks

That water is just condensation from when your exhaust styetm cools down from when you shut it off last.

Yep, I've heard of that happening, too. If it does turn out to be gas, the catalytic convertor is probably ruined by now... but hopefully it's just that carbon'd up water. If your exhaust rusts thru, consider the Dynomax #17493 cat-back system, $160 from http://www.summitracing.com (WLK-17493).
