Harmonic Balancer
ok so i fully rebuilt my engine 350chevy sb and im putting the harmonic balancer on and its really stiff fitting it into the timing chain cover hole like really stiff i used a rubber hammer to get it on most of the way but got scared of braking something just wanted to know if thats normal??? i replaced all my gaskets and such so i dont know help???

Don't use the center bolt from the crankshaft to draw the balancer on, you can screw up the threads in the snout of the crank; get the tool ede mentioned. Also, make sure you have the balancer lined up with the keyway properly, and that it's perfectly straight with the end of the crank, and not cocked sideways a bit.

Incidentally, that "tool" is a 7/16-20 threaded rod, about 5" long, with a mating nut and washer. You can use a large socket as the drift, or try the large washer that normally holds the HB in place behind the factory bolt.
Thread the rod into the crank snout, start the balancer hub by hand making sure to align the keyways, assemble on the socket/washer/nut combo, and start turning the nut.
Ede makes an excellent point about prelubricating the seal.
