Oil pan on a 400 in a thirdgen

Would it be okay to use any driver's side dipstick, two piece seal, 350 oil pan on a 400 block ? Or do I need some sort of special pan to clear the thirdgen's crossmember ? Thanx

Did this just this past summer. The old 350 pan will work just fine if it's designed for a two-piece rear main block. Even the exhaust crossover pipe from the driver's side header will clear no problem.

Yeah, they work fine....Just be sure the crank doesnt make contact with the oil pan. I used a generic summit pan and it made slight contact right at the rail, with the longer stroke crank of the 400. Would have drove the knock sensor crazy.

Hey Mike. My 406 is gonna receive a set of TrickFlow heads too. How do you like the performance of the engine ? Also... what kind of cam did you put in it ? I know mine is going to be carburated so it'll be quite different. I picked a Crower cam with 245/254 duration and .510/.524 lift for mine.

IM really happy with the car so far, With FI you really need to learn how to burn proms to get the most out of it. I wish I could run a carb, Ive thought about it many times they are so much easyer to tune, and the manifolds flow alot better than TPI. The entry angle of the intake port really sucks on TPI, it really causes flow loss as it inters the head.

The cam is an LPE 213 it has 224/234 with 465/488 lift im using 1.6s. The heads are really nice castings they make good power without the restrictive TPI. They looked really good out of the box the only thing I did was cleanup the bowl and seat area it had small lip.
