Adding K-N X-stream filter

I want to put in a K-N X-stream air filter. It is an open air system (?). I wont be using the "snokle" any more to bring in air. My questions are. What do i put in the valve cover hole after i take of the snorkle and what do i do the the 3 wires that attach to bottom of the orig filter set up.

Not to burst your bubble, but...

Bad idea.

Nice hood you've got there. Nice and flat, that is. The distance between that expensive lid and your hood blanket would be, what, an inch? Maybe less. Basically, the air would be coming in from the side of that open element air cleaner. Zero benefit vs. plain open element.

Not sure what snorkel you have now, but if single, then yes, the open element would help (was worth about 2 tenths with my stock LG4 - probably more with my current mods). But, for typical street driving, it will be a definate hurt vs. a good dual-snorkel air cleaner with ducts to the cool air. The underhood temps of our cars means an open element make it breathe like it's in a sauna - ouch.

Save the money you'd spend on that K&N lid and put it towards a dual snorkel.

If you take off the round metal assembaly that your airfilter goes in (5.0 tbi), the are wire that connect to the bottom and take some kind of readings.

Like five7kid said, you're wasting your money with the Xtreme lid. Unless you have a cowl or ram air hood, air isn't going to circulate thru that part.

I'll take your word for it. I'm not exactly TBI-literate, and TBI was never mentioned in the posts until you did.

I would think, though, that the ECM would want any info currently being provided. Transfer sensor(s) to new air cleaner make any sense?

Like what five7kid said, the wires are for the IAT(intake air temperature) sensor for the computer. Transfer sensor to new assembly. Probably have to drill a new hole on the X-Stream assembly. There might be a pre-punched knock out plate on the new base used for the PCV system but that hole might be too big(could use a grommet to fit). The hole on the valve cover, you could use a K&N breather or similiar product or attach to the X-stream base (knock out plate). Good luck.
