The dual gate shifter is about $240 new, it can be found in year one (for 300) and im sure summit and jegs will carry them. I'm not too knowledgeable about these although i do plan on getting one, but you can do a search on the transmission board and im sure you'll get alot of old posts. It seems aperion knows alot about them

The dual gate is not in the catalogs for jegs or summit, but doesn't mean they don't carry it. Just give them a call. Good luck on finding one already in a car, because of they're expense I only know one person that has it. Basically from what I know it hand like a normal shifter in on position but you can slide it over, to have better shifts. It looks good as well. But I love my Megashifter.

i dont think any aftermarket companys make them anymore, the hurst dual gates were oringally used on 67-72 GTO's also called the "his and her's" shifter, i know hurst made and aftermarket one for the 2nd gen birds back in the 80's but i havent heard of any being made in years, basically how they work is the left side works just like a regular shift, but you can move the shifter over to the side or the other gate (hence the dual gate) and pull it back into 1st, then you could slam the shifter as hard as you wanted and it would pop it up into 2nd and not let you over throw. then let go and it pops then you can slam it into 3rd and the shifter stops there so you cant get into neutral. there $$$$ to find for the GTO units, another one thats a little easyer to find is on 77-81 firebirds they could have ordered the hurst "slapstick" shifter (pontiac and hurst have allways had a partnership nothing with camaro) which is basically the same thing but no second gate, it just pulls over to the right and has stops so you cant overthrow and let go then pops up to let you hit 3rd. neather will be a direct fit.

The Hurst duel gate are still made today you can call any company that carries Hurst and ask for the consoule model for your car (82-92) F-body. If they don't have it in stock they can get one for you. Several members on the board have them just do a search on the interrior&body board and you will find pics of them.
